'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wenger: I Love This Club

With Arsenal's biggest ever Champions League game only a matter of days away, Arsene Wenger reveals that Real's president wants him in Madrid, but Arsene is more than happy where he is.

In an interview with Nick Bidwell, Wenger revealed that Real Madrid were the team he watched growing up.

'Real Madrid were the team I used to look at when I was a young boy and watching them win the European Cup time and time again was incredible,' he begins. 'They have a history and tradition no other club in the game can match and you can only be impressed by their stature.

Even so, the Arsenal gaffer has a job to do with Arsenal.

'It's very nice for their President to say he would like me to come to Madrid, but my seat has had glue on it here for some time to come. The project I am working on at Arsenal is very challenging and I will not walk away from it yet, whatever offers come in.

'It's very hard for me to imagine being anywhere other than Arsenal. I love this club and that will never change, but I honestly don't know how much longer I will go on in management.'

So it appears that Arsene is a Gooner as much as the rest of us, but maybe the end isn't so far away for him.

'I said a manager has a shelf life of 20 years and I have been in this job for longer than that now, so maybe I'm past it already!'

I think I speak for 99% of the world's Gooners when I say Arsene is no where near being past it, and as far as I'm concerned can go on managing as long as he wants.

Great to hear Arsene speaking about our wonderful club as he is. Lets hope he goes on to build one more fantastic squad that will match our fantastic new stadium and be the first Arsenal Manager to lift the European Cup (Champions League). Once this his done, a bust errected of him sat opposite Herbert Chapman in the marble halls of our new ground which he made possible. Up the Gunners for ever more!
