Wenger: The Team Is Fantastic

Arsene Wenger today hailed his young Arsenal stars as 'fantastic'

Last night saw Arsenal become the only remaining British team left in this seasons Champion's League competition, but with a massive injury list and the departure of Patrick Vieira and Edu, the average age of the Arsenal players is little over 21.

Arsene's army fought admirably last night to earn a 0-0 draw against Real Madrid's 'Galactico's' and with half the job already complete in the Bernabeau, Arsenal progressed into the quarter finals.

Something which Le Boss is extremely proud of.

'Over the two legs, I feel we have done extremely well... and if you look at the average age of the team it is fantastic,' he said.

'We have been growing and re-building for two months. I believe we have re-built character and solidarity and these have always been the basic values of our club.

'For a while in November and December, I felt we did not always have that, or the belief we have always shown before.

Arsene believes that we have not been 'mature' enough in the past, but things are coming together.

'The team are growing up...it is a very, very young side and you have to be a bit patient at times. The quality of our football has always been good, (but) we often haven't been mature enough to avoid losing matches 1-0.'

How exciting must it be for the current crop of youngsters at Arsenal!?! If they stick together and develop well, they can dominate English football for the years to come.
