Adebayor Focused On Scoring Goals

Arsenal new boy, Emmanuel Adebayor, says he is focused on scoring goals for the Gunners, and wants to impress his new gaffer.

Adebayor has scored 2 goals in 5 games, not too shabby for a player new to the premiership. The striker is the top scorer for his national team and now wants to be prolific for his club.

'I am getting quite a few games in the Premiership and so it is up to me to show what I can do, to show the boss what I am capable of,' he said.

'We are playing well at the moment in the league and I am sure we will get the points to lift us up the table.

'I am focused now on scoring more goals for Arsenal. As long as I keep hitting the back of the net here, then I will be happy.'

Manu also revealed the differnce between English and French football.

'The game in England is much more physical than in France,'

'You have got to be focused 200% on the game and you have to concentrate for the entire 90 minutes.'

Seems to me Manu likes it here at Arsenal and wants to prove himself by scoring goals and giving his all for the team which is what he's doing at the moment. if he becomes more clinical we have an excellent player on our hands.

2 goals in 5 games doesn't look bad on paper as a statistic, but if you've watched the games he's appeared in, you'll know that if he put away the sitter's he's missed - it would be 5 in 5. He's got a lot of improving to do before I'll be happy to see his name on the team sheet.

oh yeah. well he hasn't been brought as a clinical finisher but a target man to mix it up. in time tho i recks he could be a 15+ goals a season player!!

I've been more than happy with what he has done. Anyone remember how long it took Bergkamp and Henry to settle down and score some goals?? Exactly!!!
Rocky7
I take into account the fact he's still settling in, but I think he still has an inherent lack of ability that will prevent him from being 'great'. As for settling in though; Kanu scored on his debut and didn't exacly go on to set the world alight.

He's played 5 games for us, give the lad a chance before commenting on his 'inherent lack of ability'. I too don't think he'll become one of the best players in the world, but he can become a very important player for us, he has got plaenty of skill, holds the ball up well and gets in the box, something we have been badly missing. Yeah he's missed a few chances, but give him chance to adpat to the extremly quick pace of the premiership. 5 games isnt much adpating time.

I guess he'll bit that little bit happier today then. Nice one Manu!

If the rest of the team are creating decent chances for him to score then he should definitely improve his hit rate. Anyway, he is maintaining his hit rate per game and just hope he can further improve on the hit rate per chances available.
