'If It's Football, It's Vital'

First Villarreal, Now Benfica

After admitting that he has been in discussions with Villarreal, Robert Pires now says he is having talks with Man Utd & Liverpool slayers, Benfica.

Pires is still holding out for a two year extension but Arsene Wenger is holding true to his 'one year for over thirties' policy.

So Pires is looking elsewhere.

'I can confirm negotiations with Benfica,' Pires told Portuguese television. 'I like Benfica very much, my family are Benfica supporters and some of my family still live in Queluz.'

Pires has been a great goal scorer for the club and I would hold no grudges towards the player should he leave, he's earned it afterall!

He should stick with Italy or Spain. He'll be a hero the way he can fall without being eouched. Good riddance cheat !!!

You're not still harping on about that dive for the penalty are you?? That was ages ago ;)

Whats pires problem can`t he take that u can only add 1 year on ur contratct.
kenyanrudeboy
Yeah, and if Bergkamp can accept it, then Pires should also, he is a great player and Wenger will play him which should be good enough for him, looks like he is going to go though as we aren’t going to change the contract, and neither is he. Nevertheless he is important though Reyes can replace him (even though the sun said Reyes wants to play in Spain again).
gunner-minesh
your team has benefited by the influx of youth into it, get rid of pires and go with youth
vertigo_red
I don't think Wenger really wants him to stay next season. We have Reyes, Hleb, Ljungberg and the likes of Walcott and Smith emerging. If Pires isn't really committed to the cause, let him go.
pitythefool
Quite correct pity. If their hearts not in it, then let them go. I'm not harping back rocky, just saying what 95% of people who watch the premiership think mate.

After seeing pires play against sunderland, i can't understand why we are even offering a one-year deal!
