Theo Walcott Named In England Squad

Theo Walcott has amzingly been named in England's provisional world cup squad.

Having not even featured in an Arsenal first team match, Sven has picked the young Englishman regardless.

I sit here watching the breaking news astonished, however, Arsene Wenger speaks so highly of the player in such an excited way that Walcott is obviously a player of extreme talent.

England Squad in full:-

Paul Robinson (Tottenham)
David James (Manchester City)
Robert Green (Norwich)
Gary Neville (Manchester United)
Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United)
John Terry (Chelsea)
Ashley Cole (Arsenal)
Sol Campbell (Arsenal)
Jamie Carragher (Liverpool)
Wayne Bridge (Chelsea)
David Beckham (Real Madrid)
Michael Carrick (Tottenham)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich)
Jermaine Jenas (Tottenham)
Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough)
Joe Cole (Chelsea)
Aaron Lennon (Tottenham)
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Michael Owen (Newcastle)
Peter Crouch (Liverpool)
Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

More info as it arrives.

Absolutely. An amazing decision by Sven. The boy obviously has something going for him.

Nice one Sven! hes taken a gamble for a change. can you just imagine in the future a front 2 of Walcott and Rooney? frightening!
itsup4grabsnow
Glad to see some youth in there. Lets hope he plays them.

The time has come, what great thinking to go for it. What have England to lose, nothing and the feeling is England to win. At long last someone listens to A.W.. In the past 'the Boss' has offered to help, is there a chance Sven could get A.W. to be part of the team of advisors?
alwaysgunner
If Wenger says he's special then there absolutely no doubt in my mind, anyone remember the last young prospect Wenger spoke of in similar terms after he scored against us whilst playing for Everton......I rest my case...
jim_the_gooner
yes wenger found rooney didnt he
buckers_07
walcott will do what rooney did in the euro 2004. But then again he might not be used to such a big stage.

A sad, sad day, Sven influenced by the tabloid hacks!
merlin
Are you right in your head Merlin?? How on earth has the media influenced this? The media slag off Sven for having no balls, and when he tries something he's being an idiot, he can't win. You're only upset because that money grabbing little git didnt make the squad. If he'd have come to us as was his destiny, he would have been in the starting line up.
Rocky7
Congrats, Walcott. Massive empowerment for a Gunner on the rise.
SWPACIFIC
If he's so good why didn't Wenger find even one opportunity to play him for a few minutes? I am sure that AW, being the keen supporter of England that he is, was only thinking of the team rather than the invaluable experience his player will gain from practising with and playing against the best in the Premiership on someone else's time. This way he will be much better prepared for August should he be the starting striker, pretty clever, eh?

The lad is 17, putting so much club level expectation on him this season would have been harsh. However Sven gets to take a large squad to Germany and can have all the players on the bench. Therefore if he sees it fit to take a gamble, and throw on a youngster with no fear and pace to burn - he will. Let's remember that Sven is the World Class manager earning 5million a year, so all the words of wisdom coming from you Chelsea hacks are pretty irrelevant.
pitythefool
Let me get this straight, there's more pressure on a player in the league than in the World Cup? So I guess because Bobby Robson doesn't earn 5mm pa (a huge waste of money by the way, look at what other national managers earn) you would dismiss his observations on Walcott as well.
Westl
West1, the decision is made, there is nothing that can be done about it, Walcott is going to the world cup. How about you stop ******ing about the kid and actually get behind him and offer some support. Jesus.
Rocky7
Why Rocky, I never knew you were so articulate. What happened to the spirit of open debate? I hope he plays a blinder, but I doubt it. It's a huge responsibility to put on a 17 year old's shoulders, especially one who hasn't played one single minute in the Premiership. Do you disagree? Do you agree with every pick Sven made?
