In a pre-Champions League press conference, Arsene Wenger confirmed Thierry Henry does not want to leave the Gunners.
After induldging in a brief conversation about the pro's and con's of the English and Spanish games, Arsene stated he beleived that 'England is paradise for a football player' to which a cheeky journo asked 'Will you be telling that to Thierry?'
And what was to follow can only be described as a bewildering, pleasing and worrying comment.
'Well, I can only say that out of the two players that want to leave, at the moment he doesn't want to leave'
So Henry doesn't want to leave, thats fantastic, when will he sign? Release a statement an hour before the CL Final and give the club a boost before the biggest game in the clubs history? When?
It does appear to be a speck of light at the end of a very long dark tunnel.
However, what concerns me is the 'Out of two players who want to leave' part.
Who are they? Why do they want to leave?
After racking my brains, in my opinion, the only two players who could possibly want to leave would be Ashley Cole and Robert Pires.
Indeed there has been much speculation about their respective futures (speculation that could be influencing my opinions? Perhaps)
Robert Pires has expressed his displeasure about only being offered a one year extension to his contract, while Ashley Cole has spoken about feeling he has been pushed out of the club. In fact, rumours that Cole had a 16 million buy out clause in the one year extension he signed last year have only added fuel to the fire.
What ever happens, it's safe to say, it's going to be an interesting summer.
