Diary of a Gooner - The week that was
Firstly I am sorry for the delay in this the next installment of my diary. I actually did submit another article last week, but somehow it scuppered on the rocks of the information super highway (Or just got lost, not quite sure).
Anywho, what a week. I think it is fair to say that we all experienced the full spectrum of emotions associated with being a footie fan. We began the week dead chuffed with our 4th spot at the expense of a bunch of allegedly) sickly spuds. In between was the genuine sadness at the final curtain coming down at our spiritual home, but with the Champions League Final to look forward to, there was little time to dwell.
The Final, as we all know by now, did not go as we would have wished and just when it seemed that our season would end on a low note, Henry puts pen to paper and saves the day. With his new contract we find ourselves looking brightly forward instead of ruing missed chances.
So here we are at seasons end. Before the world cup starts we have but a short while for analysis and reflection, but to be honest I am not one for extensive post mortems. Suffice to say, our league form could best be described as erratic while on the other hand our European form took on a whole new (and indeed spectacular) character. Let us instead look to the future, the new stadium, our great team and all the hopes that a new season brings.
Finally, thank you Dennis. You are a true Arsenal legend and our lives will be all the poorer for losing you. Bergkamp - The Perfect 10
