Wenger Slams Eboue Dive

Arsene Wenger has lambasted Arsenal right back, Emmanuel Eboue for his theatrics that led to Arsenal's opener in the Champions League Final.

Wenger is well known for keeping critisism of his players behind closed doors, but on this occassion, he feels it vital to speak out about the situation.

Wenger raged,

'It is clear there was no foul. I condemn and regret the attitude of Eboue. I have always risen up against cheating. Eboue cheated by simulating the foul. I detest simulation.'

Eboue clearly dived in the attack, and, contrary to popular beielf, Wenger (and Arsenal fans) do not like diving in the game, and I for one am embarassed at times with Pires' & Reyes' antics.

It's good to see Wenger speak out against this sort of thing, it's the first time I can ever recall any manager protesting so publically about one of his own players cheating.

Totally agree. Good of Wenger to come out and say it. I understand the need not to publically criticise your players, but sometimes things just need to be said.

Absolutely right for Wenger to do this. He needs to nip it in the bud with these young players because there's no need for them to do it. I wish he would have a word with Reyes too. Everyone goes on and on about Pires but I don't think he's a serial diver. He's light on his feet and gets pushed off balance easily, bu he's not in Van Nistelrooy's or Reyes' class.

Well it is true, wenger needs to speak out to stamp out divers, Arsenal have a good reputation which we must keep, it needs to stop and he needs to tell the players to never dive, so when we win we keep our dignity, and Wyn mills, I agree that pires is light on is feet, and altough he dives sometimes, he is'nt as bad as everyone states.

Pires will be forever tarnished by the dive at Pompey... and rightly so, it was shocking. There is no need for Eboue to dive, he's quick and strong, so we have just as much chance of scoring if he stays on his feet.

Manu's a great player but I must admit that I'm fed whith his diving and everything up, he should really grow up in terms of behaviour on the pitch.
Gunning for glory
Manu can play well but this little things he does and lies to the referee is not top class and against barca is just disappointing to see.

Important to make a stand on this now. Eboue is a great talent and if he can get this out of his game it will only be to his advantage.
GunnerBlood
Eboue has learnt heaps lately as demonstrated by his charging performances. This fatherly chastening will only spurr him more to be the fine footballer he already is.

Good for the manager come out and criticise. it should happen more often.
