Ashley Cole Insists He Is Staying

Arsenal left back Ashley Cole says he wants to stay at the club, but is getting frustrated with the papers printing the opposite.

Cole is fed up with answering the same old questions and then having his words twisted, and also says the decision to stay is not down to him.

'Everyone keeps asking me the same question. I say I'm staying and then one paper says I'm leaving,' said Cole.

'I don't see the point in answering the same question every time. We're just going around in circles. What more can I say?

'I've played out my heart for the club since I've been here. I've never said I was leaving. It's not down to me.'

His comments prior to the Champions League final were thought to have been a ploy to make sure of his place in the starting line up, but as we have completed our fixtures for the season, Cole's comments seem to be a little more believable.

To back up Cole's claims, there are reports in todays papers that Cole will be used as a swapsie in a deal that would bring Shaun Wright-Phillips to Arsenal.

Let the silly season commence.

Arsenal have offered him £80k a week... does anyone really need to be paid more than that? Would the extra £20k a week be worth all the traitor abuse and hate? You can make comparisons to Sol Campbell, but he left Spurs to win trophies (which he has done and Tottenham haven't). Ashley Cole can win trophies at Arsenal, he knows that. The only reason to leave would be greed.

Ash says he's staying which is fantastic news. He's been one of the most loyal Arsenal players ever so I don't think the money should be very important, the most important thing is that he's staying and hopefully for many years to come.

If the papers have run dry, here's some news. Sol Campbell is set to join Fenerbahce for 8 million and 60-70k per week.
