Arsenal's Big Gun Future In Doubt

Arsenal's Big Gun Future In Doubt

Every Arsenal fan's worst fear were today confirmed when Pascal Cygan admitted he may leave Arsenal.

Pascal Cygan is the clubs leading all time scorer, has played 300 consecutive Premier League matches and was the first Arsenal captain to lift the Champions League and went on to score hat-ricks in each of the next two Euro finals.

His loss will be a massive blow.

'St Etienne have been trying to recruit me for three years now,' Cygan told But.

'I am interested by Les Verts.'

'But I could also stay at Arsenal.'

I for one am devistated by this news.

Prozac at the ready.

It will be a sad day in english football when this legend heads off to france. My favorite memory of "The King" was when he dribbled through half of liverpool and finished it off, or perhaps when he nutmegged ronaldinho before scoring from 45 yards out. Arsenal's greatest every player.

Cygan is a great utility player ... he covers almost all defencive positions... When we dont have quality backup like manu, chelski or even liverpool then, we should atleast appreciate the players who have stayed on even though they were'nt first choice... Shame to see a fan mocking his own club's player like this....

here here, goonerz4life: it's not fair to mock a player who at times has proven to be an important player for Arsenal. I remember Cygan being cheered off the ground after scoring a match-winning brace early in the season just gone, at a time when we needed the win to stay in touch with the top.

St Ettiene are welcome to Cygan, he's not by any means been one of our best players, but in the same breath he is still an arsenal player and therefore doesn't deserve to be ridiculed, maybe when he has left, and is no longer part of Arsenal, we can all join in! Until then lets just pray we sign a world class centre back to replace Campbell and give Senderos a bit more time to get up to speed.

It's all light hearted fun, don't take it too seriously. However, on a more serious note, Cygan is not good enough to play for Arsenal, and just because he never moans about being on the bench is not a reason to keep him.

I cannot believe that you are even contemplating letting him go. A sad blow to your chances of hoisting any silverware next season. ;)
