Aston Villa To Open Ashburton

Aston Villa will be the first team to play Arsenal in a premiership fixture at the Emirates stadium.

The fixtures for the 2006/07 season were announced today which revealled some very tasty dates.

Barring a change of date for television purposes, Arsenal will play their opening league game against Aston Villa on Saturday 19th August. The corresponding fixture last year was a resounding 5-0 thrasing in which Thierry Henry scored 2 blinding goals.

The next fixture of note will be and away day in one of our biggest games of the season, away at Old Trafford in only the 4th league game on the 16th September.

2nd December will see the first ever North London derby at Ashburton Grove as Arsenal attempt to maintain their impressive record against Spurs.

I can't wait for the new season.

Look's good though don't like the early Manchester United game and the fact after every Champions league group game we have an away match!

I wonder if you'll settle down quickly in the new stadium. It's quite well documented that teams moving to new stadia don't always start off well.
