'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Arsenal Snap Up Defender

Mexican defender, Carlos Salcido, has given an interview in which he claims Arsenal's bid to sign him is in full swing.

The player is convinced the Gunners watched him in the Confederations Cup in 2005 but waited to see what else he was capable of.

"The reality is that I know that Arsenal were a team which during the Confederations Cup wanted to look at the possibilities of me going to them, but they waited to watch the World Cup and see what happened with me."

He then went on to speak of his excitment and his desire to learn English.

"I`m waiting to see what happens Ive already looked at taking an extensive English course. Now I`m dreaming more than ever. Why? Because I have been tested in many situations. I have played against big players, and big teams, and thanks to God I have had the opportunity to live, play and enjoy it. My biggest goal was to play in the World Cup, but it has always been my dream to go abroad I know that Arsenal are a great team, I know that they play in the superior tournaments, and I would be very pleased to go to them."

So,like Mr Benn's shop keeping friend, a new transfer rumour appears, only this time, this one seems more viable than any other.

This player seems rather good althogh I know little about him, is he a centre back?
gunner-minesh
Apparently, he plays on the left hand side of three centre back, but he has been known to play fullback. A utility player could come in very handy.

He comes from Chivas Guadalajara. A very good defender, strong with good pace and offensive-minded. Arguably the best defender in the Mexican league outside Ricardo Osorio.

he was decent in the WC...maybe he'll replace sol...whos lookin more likely to leave for fratton park...
ryder87
It would had been good if he played at center back

Hey, don't worry! My boy Salcido is an excellent defender! Honestly, one of the best left back s in Latin America. I believe he is just as good or probably a little better than Sorin. I am Mexican and Chivas fan and it makes me very happy and proud of my boy Salcido to go to my favorite Euro club. Don't worry Mexican defenders are really good! ANyone have a Myspace?
