'If It's Football, It's Vital'

At Least It Wasn't Ronaldo

Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas failed to win Gillette's 'Young Player Of The Tournament' award, but at least it wasn't Ronaldo. Small mercies.

Germany's Lukas Podolski scooped the honour after voting by the public left Fifa with one of six young players to choose from.

Thank goodness they had the presence of mind to choose a player who doenst throw himself to the ground everytime he's touched, the last thing we need is for this pretty boy show pony to become a role model for young players.

Anyway, well done Fabregas on getting yourself nominated in your first World Cup.

To be honest I think Fabregas should have won it - he was excellent. Mind you so was Lennon, but i dont think thats a popular choice round here.
OLASAL
I have no problem with Lennon, he's a very good player, English and doesn't have the arrogance of some young players, Lennon & Fabregas are both excellent role models for young footballers, I mean the influence they've both had at this world cup both at 19 years of age is emmense, where as Ronaldo is just a penis.
Rocky7
both young who never open their mouths, get on with the job in hand. we got some fine youngsters coming out of london! would everyone agree that we're the strongest footballing city in the world?
elmo85
I f lennon did play alot of games in the world cup i think he might had won it
kenyanrudeboy
i know becks has great delivery and that, but you cant pick him on the basis of that surely? and gerrard & lampard take free kicks for their club sides and are by no means mugs when it comes to set pieces (ok maybe not lamps this wc!)
elmo85
I'm soooo glad Ronaldo didn't win it. I think the entire Footballing community in this country would agree what a cheating **** he is. Also Rocky nice to see you are not nominationg any Spurs players in your current pole.
BigYid
I dont think Becks will feature half as much from now. Hopefully McClaren will still keep him in the squad because he has a lot to offer, but I think its time from him to help Lennon become the player he can be. Lennon has shown some brilliance over the past 6-12 months but looks a little lost, but what can you expect? he's 19, for god sake, and all this will come with time. Beckham (no matted what anyone says) is a true professional and with his guidance Lennon will be a star for England.

What a contrast between Fabregas and that cheating sc*m bag Ronaldo. Cesc is a model pro and the the Winker the fanciest of fancy dans. Hope Fabregas stays and the rumours about Madrid are all paper talk. He'll become one of the Prem's all-time best if he does

Big Yid - With expection of Keane, I dont really hate any of your lot, and I only hate Keane because of his god awful celebration, and the polls are susposed to be for the rest of Vital network to vote on, that said, had Pires still been with us I'd have put him on because I understand that everyone outside Highbury isn't all that keen on the fella. We love him though.
Rocky7
i must admit, it is a tough poll! i wanted to vote for robben but i had to ronaldo because of his mincy face and hair and his gay stepovers! oh yeah and diving!
elmo85
ewl i think it shud of been fabrigas but o well, just as long as u stay at arsenal im sure we will b ok init arsenal fans
slickrick
Fabregas is already one of Europe's top midfield players-CR will never be a great player while the sky is the limit for Cesc.
Mikec
fabregas deserved it but polddolski also did he has also been great mayb not consistent though
abdleb
Ronaldo is a cheating little S##T and needs a slap. He did it to a club team mate to add insult to injury. A pathetic little man!!
woddywoo
So glad ronaldo didn't win it, Fab would have been good to get it as he played awseome but againg at least he got nominated.
gunner-minesh
