Five Star Toure

Only a week after Tomas Rosicky & Francesc Fabregas got their new numbers, Kolo Toure has at last been issued with a proper defenders number.

Since joinh Arsenal in 2002, Kolo Toure has worn the unorthadox number 28 shirt, but in this period of change he has now been given a real defenders number, the number 5.

Toure has been a rock for us over the past few years, and now Sol Campbell has departed he will become the leader of the defence (although in honesty, he's been leading it for a while now anyway)

About time!! Kolo is already an Arsenal legend.
OzDan
This is good cause its awkward to see a five star defender wearing the number 28
kenyanrudeboy2
it'll look wierd, him and cesc with these new numbers... legendary club numbers to be given to the future legends of the club... good stuff...
theking13
Thats funny Kenyan, because in the forum, you labelled him a 4.5 star player.
Rocky7
I have to say well done to a player who is already one of the top in his position.
Mikec
lol, just to be awkward, if i was a 5 star defender like toure, which i ill never ever be lol, i'd want number 28 for some reason...
wallis
It is good that they have decided to give him a proper squad number now, 28 looked like a back up players number, what numbers are Cesc and rosicky can someone please tell me cheers
Walcott
YES FINALLY toure has got the number he deserves and i am very happy for him because he is one player that is unbelievably consistent ! and works so hard for arsenal
abdleb
Walcott - Cesc is 4 & Rosicky is 7
Rocky7
Great to see someone deserving take over Martin's vacated number. TH14 is still odd to me, but it's too late to change now. Will be missing not having no. 10 on the pitch.
Tripping
thats good to see he has been given one of our legends shirt number, but even if he wore 28 i wouldn't care. he's a top quality player and it doesn't matter wat number he is... Gooners 4 da champions league and possibly premiership, fa cup & carling cup. (quadroople lol). Well lets hope so ne way... Arsenal 4 Ever
protocal
he has been a brilliant player for you guys
cherry_brandy
That's an excellent development news! Very fitting recognition.
SWPACIFIC
Number 5 is special. The memories. In fact my favorite number 5 was Nayim, who smacked home that beauty from 50 yards out. Can still see Seaman flappng like a seagull... . It's also indicates where Arsen'ole will finish this year. Cheers!
greatwhitenorf
do you really care about numbers! i couldnt care a less what number they have on their shirt, it doesnt make them any better!
elmo85
i dont no about the "quadroople" think most of us wanna see the title back where it belongs! lets be honest aslong as we finish aboce chelski and the dirty spurs i will be more than happy!
cuscus14
That's great news im glad to hear that, he deserves that no5 shirt more than anyone.Fabregas no4, Rosicky no7 but who will take the no10?
merz
And Senderos has been given the number 6 shirt!
codchops
Senderos no6...........lol
merz
I like five on Toure. It equals the amount of European trophies won by norf London's two great rivals. 3-2 to the Tottenham.
greatwhitenorf
It's about history, elmo. About joining a long procession of legends who came before and will follow. Of course, if you're a team like spuds that list will be very short and not worth bothering about. Numbers like 00 come to mind.
Tripping
Toure deserves to wear number 5. He is in my opinion in the top 3 centre backs in the world, and this is a little token of that fact
Regiboy
It was only a matter of time I suppose... also a good marketing tool as it will encourage more people to buy the new shirt. He does deserve it though, he has been astounding since moving to centre back - already an Arsenal legend.
pitythefool
Toure, a N'arsenull legend? Zoot alors! When do you plan to honour Greg Louganis for tutoring him? Or was that Small Campbell he worked with? Next thing you know, Coco Chanel will get a stand named for her for teaching Teary Henry to play like a woman. Ah, Eezleengton, c'est un trop.
greatwhitenorf
An what would you know of Kolo Toure GWN??? The only time you ever see him is when he's thrwarting your pathetic attempts at beating us. How many years is it now? 7? 8?
Rocky7
whats greatwhite on about??
mish
Well, Rocky, I know this, there's this great gouge in the turf at Stade de France where either Toure's legend as a man came to a crashing halt. There's also a bare strip at the other end where grass won't grow cozza Lehman's tears. See y'all in UEFA after the drop.
greatwhitenorf
GWN is just a bell-end who thinks he witty and amusing when in fact he's just having problems coming to terms with the fact that Arsenal are a superior club to Tottenham (it has been a long while!). As for Toure, he was there when we went 49 games unbeaten - legend.
pitythefool
... but Hey GWN its better being there to drop into :-) ... than having to start in there ... :-) ...
Achilles
GWN what a W ank stain 1 word ASHBURTON
StryfedaGunner
Two words - debt load! Three words - the new Leeds! Four words - Stadium share with Spurs! Five words - save your own sorry asses! Enjoy your prawn sandwiches.
greatwhitenorf
6 words - Champions League You're Havin A Laugh!!!
Rocky7
GWN needs to support a real club. itz been 20 or 30yrs since spurs last won the league. talk of mediocrity!!! enjoy the UEFA cup!!! ha ha ha. probably take spurs another 30 years to win the league!!
