Wenger: Davies Price Too High

Bryan Robson's tactics for keeping the young defender seem to be working as many teams are reluctant to pay such a high price for Curtis Davies.

Wenger has revlealed that he is interested in the West Brom centre back, but is not willing to pay such a high transfer fee.

"Davies I like, but (the asking price of £10 million) is too high," said Le Boss.

Here endeth the rumour.

I dont think it is a case of going cheap but more of a case of not being held ransom by the other side. Theo's case last season and Reyes previously can demonstrate that if AW is convinced in the big price tag, he will go for it. AW record in signing young talents can only be described as simply exceptional.

How poor are we even 10million pounds we are the biggest clubs in europe and we can afford to pay £10m.I know its because of the stadium

Arsenal is not poor by any means, on the finaancial side they looked tight but they have been doing deals to improve their position and am sure the latest bond deal that they have done could improve even further. They have also maintained that AW has the resources available if he had wanted it. Anyway, 10m is small change and am sure if AW say yes, Davies will be an arsenal player by now.

" i agree with him- price tag is silly"

The stadium and transfer finances are completely separate, Wenger has money to spend if he wants it. He's just not foolish enough to spend £10million on a player who is obviously not worth that much.

he's right, i mean west brom got relegated ffs! not like they had a good season thanks to him and got into europe. good player ultimatly surrounded by a club of dreamers!

10 mill?! For a player who was League 1 till the season before last?? Wow. I think someone's got a bit carried away with the zeros on their calculator.....
cherry_brandy
10 mil we have available... just not for davies if you put it in perspective its a ridiculous asking price for a guy who only proved himself a season ago.
mish
its a shame. he has talent, and we need a defender. mish i understand you, but wenger is usualy right when it comes to recognising talent, and if he feels as though he is good, than he is probably good.
