Emirates Watch: It's Finished

Ashburton Grove has 'reached practical completion' as the first game at our new home is less than a week away.

The project has taken years to finalise costing over £390 million, but now, the 60,000 all seater is all but finished, with only minor touches to be added.

Thursday will see the annual members day event which will host 20,000 eager Gooners to watch the first team in training, this will be the penultimate ramp up event in a series of safety checks with Dennis Bergkamps testamonial being the final event.

A proud Arsene Wenger said, 'Everyone at the club has worked really hard on the stadium project and have done so well in getting it ready on time.'

He added: 'We are delighted that the stadium has reached practical completion and are really looking forward to what we hope will be a very successful first season and future at our new home.

'It is a fitting tribute that the first match at Emirates Stadium and a new chapter in the club's history gets under way with a match in honour of a true Arsenal legend, Dennis Bergkamp.'

I look forward to taking my first look round on Saturday.

What a great stadium. Loved highbury, but Ashburton should be something else!

Once the impending stadium sharing deal is worked out with another club, the renaming process can begin. Keep the seats clean in the Spurs end, eh? In the meantime, why not make the best of both parks and call it Flybury?

Make sure you chuck down some prawn sammiches to the little people below the club seats. They'll have given up eating in order to pay for the tickets. You'll still have room for the Emirates club cuisine that will feature lamb's eyes cooked in honey, lark's tongues in aspic and camel calf sweetbreads. Yumm!
