Arsenal Star Joins The Injury List

Arsenal Star Joins The Injury List

Freddie Ljungberg will miss the Champions League qualifiers and the start of the season according to Arsene Wenger.

Ljungberg suffered injury playing for Sweden at the world cup, and it now appears that he will not recover in time for the start of the season.

'Ljungberg has an inflammation around his ankle.
'He has had an injection. But I don't think he will be completely ready for the start of the Premiership season on August 19.'

The news comes as a real blow, however Arsenal have excellent cover in Alex Hleb and Tomas Rosicky.

Maybe so, but Ljungberg is quality...if you think he's surplus to requirements, I'm sure you could find plenty of takers.

Freddie is definately a quality player, but we need our quality players fit for at least 90% of the season if we want to challenge Chelsea, but having said that, we have the luxury of having much cover in that position, it'd be much worse if Kolo Toure, Gilberto or Jens Lehmann got injured.

there could be a sliver lining on this story, look at the young talent that is now going to get a chance with a few of the big names out for the start of the season, with the mix of young blood and expenrence in the team with about an average age of around 25 if you exclude old mad jens we have a huge advantage over the likes of chelsea due to the fact that their team is ageing slightly and to be honest i truley elive that this is our year, but back to the point we should not brig the likes of freddy and senderos back too quick or we may loose them for longer, though not a complete disaster with the team we got, it will knock us sideways

i think u r right walcott. I really believe this year could be our year too. our team is young but has got enough players with experience in big competitions plus they're young too. but i really think that arsenal have one thing in abundance and that is a lot of pace which teams are frightened of. also that fast technical football which is a joy to watch. i really think we will be playing a mixture of formations 4-4-2, 4-4-3, 4-5-1 and so on. jus a variety of formations against differnet opponents this season. so we will have more than a plan a lol. watch out for van den berg, he looked pretty good in DB10 testimonial, for the short while he was on the pitch. could be an alternative for freddie but hleb will play or maybe walcott.

true protocal, thats exactly what i was trying to get at, teams are once again becoming sceard of playing us, we are back and we want our title back, if it dose not happen this season, we will win the prem next year, mark my words, you saw how leathel we can be last season, but we failed to keep that up all year, if we can have a whole season at our best we are assured the league, with chelsea getting their pension and man u play soccer, the title is ours, but its a four house race now, theirs Arsenal, Chelski, Man u and Liverpool - who i think are gonna be wiiners if we dont cliam our title back
