A Sad Farewell To An Arsenal Legend

News filtered through late on Thursday afternoon that Paddy Galligan, a Highbury stadium employee (for want of a better word) of 28 years had past away.

Patrick 'Paddy` Galligan was well known to players past and present as he worked for the club for many years, sorting out the dressing rooms, collecting the turnstyle counts and many other responsibilites.

Patrick was apparently set to 'retire' from his duties this year after the move to new stadium, but as he lived in a flat at Highbury he got to spend his last days at the place he loved the most.

According to Arsenal.com Paddy also appeared on the opening credits of Match of the day at one point also.

Vital Arsenal would like to wish his family our deepest condolences.

Rest in peace Paddy.

Thanks Merlin - It really is people like him who put the finishing touches on everything, the little jobs that need doing, things that give that family touch around the place. Everybody involved in the running of the club is important and is respected. Farewell Paddy.

i met paddy galligan after an arsenal game a couple of years ago, he organised a tour for me and a mate, paddy brought us in to the dressing rooms, the board room, the treatment room. i was allowed up the tunnel to the pitch and i met henry, wenger, sol and denis. paddy was a great man, lived for arsenal and anyone that ever met him will be very sad at this news.
