'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reyes Rumours All Lies

I awoke this morning to find SkySports News reporting yet another Arsenal player wanted away from the Gunners.

However, before I could even get my fingers on the keyboard, the little forward had issued a statement rubbishing the claims.

In the initial story that claimed he was packing his bags offered that Reyes had said,

'I have always said that I want to return to Spain. I have nothing against Arsenal, completely the opposite. It is a great club and they have helped me so much. The fans have given me so much support since I joined. But they know that I have not adapted to life in England. I have not got used to the language or the weather. If Real Madrid want me then that is marvellous. I have always said what a huge club it is and it would be an honour to play for them. Let's see what happens.'

They claimed this even though Reyes is in Austria in a pre-season training camp.

Reyes however, quickly moved to dispell all rumours.

'I don't know where these words have come from.

'But what I would like to say is that I am very happy at Arsenal. At the moment we are all training hard in preparation for the new season and I am excited about not only playing at Emirates Stadium but also helping Arsenal to challenge for honours.'

I'll tell you where the words have coming from Jose, they come from lazy hacks with nothing else to write so they rehash old stories claiming them to be new.

Im pretty pleased about reyes staying but i dont think it was that vital, romours were that we could have got baptista or robinho plus cash for him so, pretty pleased

The reports I read in the spanish media didnt mention a player plus cash offer. What they said is that reyes would be easy to sign as arsenal were trying to offload him but then went on to say that cesc still wants to go to madrid (despite both him & his agent clearly saying he doesnt) & that he would cost around 30 million euro's, however madrid would bring that price down by giving us baptista or robinho. It seems the english press have chnged that story even more to suit their own angle. I think reyes should be given 1 more season to see if he can achieve the form he had at sevilla, especially as the size of this new ashburton pitch is going to give him a hell of a lot more space to play in.
Ashburton Gooner
As has been said on the forum, Reyes without a doubt will benefit from the larger pitch. His speed and excellent range of passes will be a great plus. I gurantee that he will be 15 goals + next season in all comps.

What a pity he's staying. Thre are better players that him we could have got. Ah well... hope he finally has good season.

I can't believe people continue to believe these stories. Why would Reyes have phoned the news of the world from Austria to tell them this? It's just an easy story that they will keep recycling again and again on slow news days.

i can not see this transfer happing, due to the fact that Jose must be the most unsettled guy ever, one minuite he is happy in london the next he hates it, then he is happy again, i would not take this story too serious it is the news of the world, when are they ever a breaking story paper, they recycle stories fro thesame dates a year ago and they hope readers don't realise, whats next for them Henry off to barnet or something stupid like that?

Viera said he wasnt gonna move were is he now eh! Your teams full of disloyal players! and always has been!

im depressed, whyarent we being linked to any players atm, every morning i wake up in the hope we may have signed a good player and still no news im getting increasingly worried by the lack of activity, YIKES!!
hazzagooner
For the attention of the person calling him/herself sexyyid (how sad is that btw) Patrick Vieira was sold by Arsene Wenger even though the player (after much messing about granted) had expressed his desire to stay. He was sold because he could no longer kepp up with the day to day demands of the PL, as proved when we smashed them in the CL.
Rocky7
i am glad because he is a player i really like and has the ability to be one of the greats or legends. before that whole aragones affair he was scoring goals for fun but after that he failed in that department. it upset henry and playing alongside him probably played on his mind. but it wasn't reyes fault. he has proved to be a pest for opponents with his work rate and closing down of the ball and his long passes superb. he will shine this season.
