Fran Merida Scores On His Debut

The news of Fran Merida's signing was met with great joy from all Gooner's today, but the fact he scored on his first appearance on English soil, doubled the happiness..

Having watched the Arsenal game vs AZ Alkmaar I have little knowledge of the game itself, but by all acounts, Merida scored the goal of the game.

Described by Arsenal.com as a 'swerving effort into the roof of the net' from 25 yards out, it certainly provides all Arsenal fans with something to get excited about.

The player has long been rumoured to have already have signed for the Gunners, official word from the club makes it all the more real.

Two goals from Arturo Lupoli, a screecher from Merida and one from new boy Barazite capped of a great 4-0 victory.

just read it on Arsenal.com - great news, i've been waiting a good few months to hear more about this guy, by all accounts a real capture for us. the fact it's on the official site seems that we are assured he is our player. Ola, Fran, que pasa? »»Arsene Knows««

merlin

Johnaldiniho
Great news that he has actually signed - we've been waiting for this for months! Always nice to beat Borehamwood, but it's a meaningless fixture - those lads won't see easier opposition than that!
pitythefool
hopefully this is a sign of things to come, this guy is going to be amazing, long may his scoringf run conitue, him and walcott are the foundations ofr the future of this team alsong with feb ect the futures bright, the futures got arsenal written all over it
Walcott
Great news that he has actually signed - we've been waiting for this for months! Always nice to beat Borehamwood, but it's a meaningless fixture - those lads won't see easier opposition than that! - harsh but true, then there is the spuds, lol
Walcott
I hope youtube.com picks it up. Getting sick of googling goals & arsenal and it's wall to wall Nayim from 50.
greatwhitenorf
I say Borehamwood!!!!!! I expect you guys are soooooo proud, and 4-0 WOW!!!!!!!!!! Quote from above...................Always nice to beat Borehamwood, but it's a meaningless fixture - those lads won't see easier opposition than that! - harsh but true, then there is the spuds, lol Still can't get Spurs out of your mind then, you'll have neck ache looking up at us this season lol
sidyid
The spuds have an excellent youngster themselves in Huddlestone, I dont know why they dont concentrate on him rather than coming to slag our team off. Seems like arsenal are on their minds rather than the other way around.
Ashburton Gooner
The fact Merida is 16 years old, has been in the country 5 mins, probably doesnt speak much english, has never played in the team before and scores what sounds like a great goal on his debut is worth getting excited about regardless of who the opposition is, hopefully makes it easier for him to settle in aswell.
jim_the_gooner
fantastic news hope we can fabregas him by end of the season
mish
No doubt if merida & traore get a chance this season & make a big impact (very likely) then next summer we will have to put up with real madrid trying to unsettle the both of them, especially as carlos will be about 60 & barely able to run anymore so they will need a new left back & as for merida no doubt that rumour will involve a swap deal with baptista. I bet youre all amazed at my clairvoyant powers!! lol
Ashburton Gooner
Well Merida scores a banger from 25 yards, and also so does another new boy Nacer Barazite. Didn't think we had him but we do. The future is bright, the futures Arsenal.
protocal
lets see who will be the most expensive arsenal mascott medira or walcott....arrsenal are so boooring
barcafan2006
well we're actually one of the best attacking teams in europe. and walcott may have cost a bit, but merida was actually free..
protocal
sorry who merida?
elmo85
£10 wallnut is not the player you expect him to be!
elmo85
lets hope Barca dont give you lot hell over him with UEFA - they're a bit p***ed off with Arsenal over this
