Wenger Plays Down Ribery Link

Wenger Plays Down Ribery Link

Arsene Wenger has played down rumours that link French wingman, Franck Ribery with a summer move to Ashburton Grove.

Le Boss says we have enough players already to fill that position.

When pushed on the possible signing of Ribery, Wenger said, "There are plenty of players in the world who want to join us'

"I am more concerned with turning down people who want to join us than negotiating with players who want to go.'

"If you look at the flanks we have [Tomas] Rosicky, who is not an average player, [Alexander] Hleb, [Jose Antonio] Reyes, [Theo] Walcott... also Ljungberg - where do I put a player like Ribery?"

Playing down links or covering his arse? You decide.

We don't need Ribrey, their are other areas of the team that need strengthening, unless one of the wingers goes which i doubt for one reason or another their is no need to waste money on Ribrey. Id rather give in to Brom 10m valuation of Davies then sign Ribrey as atleast we do need another center back. Ribrey isn't any better then our current wingers apart from maybe Freddie, but freddie does work his ass off and we dont need to spend 16m to get him.

we dont need Ribery. Rosicky, Hleb, Ljungberg, reyes and Walcott can all cover the flanks. question for luvwhites. If Lennon gets injured who is covering? Murphy, Fat Andy Reid, wow. come back and post something decent when you know how to hang on to your best players (carrick) or when big players want to sign for you (duff). we were **** last year and came 4th, you got the ****s and finished behind us.

spuds also played a grand total of 40 games allowing themselves to concentrate fully on the league and they still could not hold their bottle. now they've lost Carrick (and so have Man Poo)..HaHa. we also had major injury problems last season (and the beginning of this season too), I dont think any of the other top 3 could cover as many injuries as we had and challenge for the title. 4th was a damn good acheivement considering we'd lost PV and we were in the CL til the last game. Spuds fans should be a bit more respectful!! some chance.

Glad to hear it from Wenger. We don't need Ribery, and certainly not at the prices being thrown about. He's 23 and still does a lot of running with his head down. Not something so easily correctible at his age. Next Zidane, my foot. And he's not better than Freddie was in his prime. Even Eboue could do a job on the wing in a pinch. Money better spent on central midfield and defense. People blindly calling for Walcott to be played are idiots. Even far more experienced players have taken time to settle in - Pires took 6 months. And that is the time period Wenger has often cited. One of the reasons Walcott left Southampton was that he felt he was rushed into playing too many matches too early. He's said he'd be happy to get a few Carling Cup matches this season. So should you be. When he's ready, he'll play. End of.
