Arsenal's Champions League Draw

Arsenal have been given a draw that most would consider straight forward however there are potential banana skin's in this years competition.

The age old saying goes that there are no easy games in football, and while our games in this years group stages of the UEFA Champions League are not the most dangerous teams we have ever faced, there will still be some tricky ties.

I fully expect Arsenal to win all their home games, however trips to Moscow, Porto and Hamburg will all have hazzards of their own. I mean who fancies going to Moscow in the middle of winter?

By far the worst team we could have drawn in the group was a Hamburg side that are firmly on the up and have made some significant signings this summer. There were far more fanciable teams in that fourth pot.

So to sum up, the Gunners are expected to progress but I wouldn't expect them to win every game.

I think apart from the group of death (A), its one of the hardest groups we could have got. CSKA are 17 games into their season & top their league, Hamburg have players like vincent kompany & van der vaart with the spuds reject atouba chucked in. Porto appear the weak link in the group.
Ashburton Gooner
Yeah Hamburg have van der Vaart, de Jong and Kompany, they'll be dangerous. But I'm looking forward to going to Hamburg and Porto, it's nice to get new teams. Not sure I can afford Moscow as well though.
Little Dutch
Why would you want to go to Moscow, you'll freeze yer tezzies off!!
Rocky7
Been worse places, heard of White Hart Lane?!
Little Dutch
after the chelsea group ours is probably the hardest all round group. OK no really hard single team but any of them teams can win on the day quite easily. some tricky away games there so the home games become so important. Man U and Liverpool have got easier draws.
gazzap
Also dont forget after every cl's match we are away in the premiership so our season gets even harder, where as chelski may have a hard group but every premiership match afterwards is at home (except maybe one).
Ashburton Gooner
I am angry that Milan, having cheated their way back into the competition through a dodgy trial, have been drawn in by far the easiest group.I feel that it is now very likely that Milan could win the tournament. It is the way that football turns.

Pluto was just downgraded to a dwarf planet. In related news, Arsenal was downgraded to a dwarf soccer team.
USA
i like the group we have coz they'll test us quite a bit and make sure we are focused for the knockout phase. cant wait
mish
insightful as usual USA, we value your input

Thanks! It would mean so much more coming from mish, Rocky7 or Little Dutch though. anonymous...your first name isn't alcoholics is it?
USA
We will destroy them all!!! Muhahahaha! They can't live with us, if we play like we did in the Champs league like we did last year, it will be boys against men. (even if we have most of the boys)
GunnerBlood
USA - If you use the word "soccer" once more, I will have you banished to the boards of the Scottish Leagues!!

Chelsea and barca!!! I havent laughed so much since Ma caught her left tit in the mangle!!
jim_the_gooner
Coz were are miserable sinners, filthy ****ers.........A*sehoooooooooollllllles!
Rocky7
Anyone reckon it could be Barca and Werder bremen who go thro'? nobody's talking about Bremen and they were 2nd in the bundesliga last year with Top scorer Miroslav Klose in the side....heres hoping!! i dont think we could have asked for better, although an away trip to Moscow is never very favourible, but we should easily top the group! COME ON!!!!! i cant wait!
jim_the_gooner
well a bad draw for us and a great draw for Russaians coz now barca and chelsea will be going to other stage but i was hopng that chelsea face barca in konck out stages:(

Why is it called World Soccer magazine? Actually, I prefer calcio and futbol, but I'll endeavor to insert footie in my sentences like your fans insert their feet in their mouth when they write about our Chelsea. As for Scotland, Rangers and Celtic aren't too bad, The rest are a biy weak thogh. They do have the best whiskey!
USA
USA, you really are the ultimate glory supporter aren't you :)
Rocky7
Absolutely, I have been a diehard Chelsea fan since they won the EPL 2 years ago. Now that's history! I've got one foot off the wagon this year already...bunch of mid-table losers type of start. Besides you and Little Dutch are giving merlin, OLASAL and Cendrowski a run for it this year! ;-)
USA
I reckon group F is the group of death.
Bud
i think arsenal is strong for the group. hamburg and moscow are going to be challenging, but we should top the group.
