Walcott Back In England Set Up

After scoring inside 2 minutes on his England under 21's debut, coach Peter Taylor has called Theo back into the England under 21's squad for the European Championship qualifier against Switzerland.

Walcott wrongly faced a barrage of criticism after being picked for England's world cup squad this summer. The young forward didn't get so much as a sniff of action and upon England's exit of the tournament all the naysayers and doom and gloom merchants found their scapegoat in the unplayed Theo Walcott.

Well since his return from the World Cup Theo has played one game for the Under 21's and scored one goal and made two substitue appearance's in the space of four days and grabbed himself two assists.

Peter Taylor has warned Theo and his team mates they will face a stern test in Switzerland.

'They have produced some very strong teams in recent years and we know we'll have to play better than we did at Ipswich,' he said.

'However, there is every reason to be positive. We have a really good group of players and the spirit in the camp is first-class.

'All the players now have a few games under their belt which gets rid of the early-season rustiness we suffered from against Moldova.'

At this rate Steven Gerrard's 'enthralling' autobiography is gonna need a new chapter. Well done Theo, I hate you Gerrard.

Theo deserve to be in the seniour squad than the like of Defoe, Bent and even lennon, but is alright at the moment, i just feel sad for crouch and co in the future when theo will got many games under his belt and crouch and co (Defoe, Bent) will be on the bench watching the kid playing

its good for theo to play for the u21. if he would have been called up to the main squad there is no way he would have played with just 3 games experience. like this he'll be able to play a good hour at least and that will build up his sharpness, and do wonders for us. the full squad will call theo in time, but for now he needs games.

theo will be a very important england player but only if he plays like he is playing now he is great pace a great 1st touch and great footballing mind so i would not be surprised if he is called to england sqaud for euro 2008 and hey will be the key to england success :D

Really has been stellar as bench buffer for senior squad. Time to see if he can duplicate that gloss and smooth finish a level down.
