Gallas Delighted To Be At Arsenal

William Gallas has spoken for the first time about his delight upon his move to Arsenal.

The French centre back moved to Arsenal, as part of a swap deal involving Ashley Cole, despite nasty little Maureenho saying he'd rather Gallas were left to 'rot on the bench'. The player had expressed his desire to leave but the Chelsea manager was reluctant to let him go.

However, now that the horrible mess is all done and dusted, William Gallas has spoke to Arsenal.com as an Arsenal player.

The happy player said, 'I am delighted to be joining Arsenal, and am looking forward to the new challenges that the Club and coming seasons hold. Arsenal has a great history and sense of tradition, and combined with the fantastic facilities offers me a great move and chance to build on my career and enjoy what will hopefully be further successes.'

Arsene Wenger appeared just as delighted as the player.

"We welcome William to the Club while saying goodbye to Ashley Cole, a player that has given a lot for us over a number of years. With Gallas` arrival we welcome an accomplished and versatile defender who can perform anywhere across the back line, and I am an admirer of his pace and strength. We hope that he helps us achieve our objectives on the pitch in the coming season and beyond. "

I'm sure the Ashburton faithful will make William feel at home right from his first kick of a ball.

Gallas has been issued Cole's old number 3 shirt.

A last minute winner against Spuds last year AND he annoys Chelski fans. Billy, you're gonna fit in just fine!

By that response you'd have thought that Gallas was the player who met Arsenal behind Chelsea's back, got caught and refused to admit he'd done anything wrong. I think William will quickly become an Arsenal favorite!!
Rocky7
he already was before he was an arsenal player when we found out that he also wanted the move and hated chelski
abdleb
c'mon!!! him and toure....... mmmmm cant wait. with gallas and baptista i think we have a good chance of going for the league. we finally have the strong midfielder we all wanted, albeit an attacking one.
elio14
Sorry got carried away, just dissapointed that he engineered the move the way he did!
Mikeyblue
what's a nuber 3? He's a conniving toe-rag!
merlin
No idea what you're talking about Merlin :P And if you don't like conniving toe-rags, you've sure got the wrong player playing at left back. He's the worst of them all.

I'm really happy for Arsenal as i feel Gallas is the best defender i have seen in world cup he was just amasing and i can't say about Baptista as i have not seen him play but he must be of great talent as Arsenal have signed hin

You got the better end of the deal. I wouldn't fall in love with Gallas though, he is a bit touched to have wanted the move?!

I think Arsenal got the better deal, gallas is quality and remember you can get Cole back for nothing next season when he's sat on the bench all this season.
