The Number Of The Beast
Julio 'The Beast' Baptista has been issued with Reyes' old number 9 shirt.
Baptista came to Arsenal in a swap deal which saw Jose Antonio Reyes go the other way in a years long loan which will give Arsenal the option to buy.
The straight swap carried on further as the Beast was issued Jose's old shirt number, which I am sure he will wear in a more manly fashion.
Julio has been speaking for the first time about his move to Arsenal and he says he's here for trophies.
"For me personally, I haven`t won anything for some time, it is my hope that I can win a title with Arsenal this season'
"Arsenal is one of the best clubs in Europe. I am very happy to be given the opportunity to come here, where I know the manager a little." he said in an interview with Arsenal.com
Settling in also shouldn't be a problem for the player as he knows most of the exisiting squad already.
"I know nearly all the players here," he said. "I know Gilberto the most from the Brazilian national team and I also know Thierry [Henry] and [Cesc] Fabregas. In fact I could probably name all the players."
Arsenal fans can get their first glimpse of Baptista by buying a ticket to the Brazil v Argentina game at Ashburton Grove this weekend.

we didnt need reyes anymore due to the emergence of walcott who so far has played on the left wing when he has come on. we needed a player like baptista and finally all our prayers have been answered!! 3 experinced internationals arrive, albeit two leaving, but all in all a fantastic piece of business by arsene. now lets make it count on the pitch

Iv'e wanted him for ages, He seems great and I hope this player knows loyalty.
It's a great move, and as he settlels in he will be a great addition to our squad.

How are we gona line up in midfield then? or will Baps play as a striker? I dont understand unless Gilberto is dropped wich whould be realy harsh on him.

nope.. gilberto wont be dropped.. i'd say that he'd be made to play as the defensive anchor completely.. and fabregas and baptista doing the central midfield duo of both attacking and defending.. and i think clichy(or flamini) with gallas, toure and lauren(eboue isnt mature enough as of yet i think.. in a season or two he'll be the best rb of the world..) wld form a defense even chelsea wld envy.. i think we'll soon be able to put a run together and gun for the title..

Drop Gilberto! Do you know that he had 2 shots out of a possible 13 against Villa and 1 out of 7 against City. On the other hand, he did shut down the likes of Riquelme and Ronaldinho pretty nicely last season. I say we change our formations. 4 defenders, then Gilberto, Rosicky, Fabregas play "holding roles" (similair to the way Lampard, Essien and Ballack play for Chelski). Then Hleb plays right wing/right attacking mid whilst Beast plays left attacking mid.(Like Guily does for Barca)

Well if he was meant to be a DM he would wear the vacant No15 or No18 but he was given the No9 shirt which means attacking duties for him...YES. Now watch him blast Fat Frank and Gerrard out of the water!!!

I have a strange feeling that he will somehow have a positive effect on Henry. Probably because he provides a bit of muscle like Viera did.
