Wenger Eased Baptista Doubts

Julio 'The Beast' Baptista admitted there was a time when he had concerns over his move to the Gunners but they were dispersed by the calming influence and the winning nature of Arsene Wenger.

Baptista had a few doubts in his mind whilst he travelled to London, but after meeting Le Boss and listening to his ideas and philosiphies the Brazillian power house was not only convinced to join, but now he says it would be difficult to rejoin Madrid at the end of his loan spell.

'I have not come to Arsenal just to pass the time. I have come to be a big success and if that happens it will be hard to return to Spanish football. I travelled to London with many doubts but after talking with Arsene Wenger I was completely convinced.'

'Having a coach who had faith in me and the prospect of playing in the Champions League was too good to refuse. For a coach to go after the same player two years running is a big vote of confidence in me. Now I just want to repay that faith.'

Baptista has also confirmed the lure of playing alongside the great Thierry Henry was too great to resist.

'It will be an honour to play alongside Henry - he is one of the great strikers of all time. I am very lucky in that respect. I have played with Ronaldinho for Brazil and with Ronaldo at Real and now Henry. This Arsenal team can win everything. We have not started that well but there is plenty of time.'

Ever wonder why they call him the Beast? http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/1971/beastur8.jpg Look at the size of those arms!

Really pleased we have Julio in the team along with Callas our defense now has the players that will along with Ces , Toure and Eboue will be one of the best if not the best defense in the PL. Its time to forget Cole and Reyes they are past we need to look to the future. If we get Buffon then the PL, CL and FA cup are ours for the taking. So Rocky 7 lead the way, lets move on, and no more wasting time talking about Cole and Reyes.

The only downside of reyes leaving is that we will miss his dead ball delivery, especially as we now have 3 players who can actually head the ball in Gallas, Baptista & Adebayor. I know rvp also has pretty decent delivery but he isnt a certain starter & quite often he just goes for goal as does henry. Lets hope rosicky starts to take a few free kicks.
Ashburton Gooner
baptista seems a very good freekick taker, another weapon alongside v.persie & henry. regarding delivery henry seems to be doing it regularly now too.

Good old Arsene, quietly going about his business unlike some!
sandgroanun
what a coup for you, he never had much of a chance at real hopefully he can showwhat hecan do at arsenal
green giant 12
The machine has arrived and the goods will soon! I hope we can sign him on a permanent contract at the end of his loan. What are the chances???
Tugboat
The chances are rather large. That was the whole point of the deal, loan with a view to permanent. Aslong as we want him and he wants us....it's already a done deal.
Rocky7
i reckon will keep him by the end. and ye i hope hes a succes because from what im seeing and even with real madrid he was immense
abdleb
I'm a bit lost here. If Baptista is only here on loan, does that mean Reyes is only on loan to real?
Tugboat
Probably not. there was probably some clause about money that has not been made public.
red_chattey
Both players on loan with a view to buy!
Rocky7
Cool. Hopefully they both go through. What's all this about Buffon coming in Jan??? Chances??? Thanks rocky7
Tugboat
no wat i'ce heard is that we have loaded out ryes and they loaned out baptista and the clubs have the option of buying at the end of the contract reyes will probably be sold as he sayed that he will not play another game in england and it depends how baptista does for us as we know by now AW jus dosnt buy to make the team look good they have to perform too
#1-gooner
baptista will be a demon once he has settled in. i reckon he'll play as a second striker behind henry, and sometimes it'll be adebayor.
protocal
Let's hope he is as good as you guys make him out to be.
