Gallas Bemoans Position Shift

William Gallas made his debut for the Gunners yesterday but feels he could have started the game as one of the best players in the world had Chelsea given him a more stable position.

It has been widely tipped that Gallas wanted to leave Chelsea because the made him play at left back but the player claims that it wasn't the position that was the problem, it was the fact that he never a had a stable position and was made to chop and change all too often.

'I could have become one of the best players in the world at Chelsea, but was never given the chance,' Gallas told the News of the World.

'I was dragged around to play in different positions just to please the manager.'

'I have been done a disservice for a long time. I couldn't progress as a player because you need stability - I never had that.'

'It wasn't the position in itself that bothered me, just the fact I was always changing.'

'I could have stayed on the left and become one of the best players in the world at that position, the same for the right-hand side - but I was never given that chance.'

'You need to be given a whole season in one of those positions.'

Gallas now belives he's in the right place to become the player he wants to be.

'Now, I'm recognised for my qualities in the centre - but that could have happened a lot sooner.'
