Arsenal Will NOT Become A Chelsea

Arsenal Will NOT Become A Chelsea

In a time when it seems almost fashionable for Russian billionaires to own a football club as some kind of sick hobby, it was inevitable that sooner or later the mighty Gunners would be linked with such a deal.

However, after many tense seconds of the rumours doing the rounds, Arsenal Holdings plc has issued a statement saying it's all bollocks.

If I'm being honest I'll admit to being slightly worried about these rumours and was convinced that this would be the worst thing that ever happened to Arsenal Football Club, but it did sound plausible. But true to our good form, we wasted no time in letting worrying fans know that the club is not to be sold.

The statement on Arsenal.com read,

Arsenal Holdings plc has noted the speculation in the media that it has received an approach or has been in talks which may lead to an offer for the Company.

The Board of Directors confirms that it is not and has not been in any such talks and has not received any such approach.

Could you honestly see Arsene Wenger hanging around if he woke to find a horses head in his bed everytime we didn't win a trophy?!

I for one am extatic that the club will remain as it is.

It would ruin decades of hard work. To see us filled with dirty money after everything that had been built by Arsene Wenger and the board would break my heart!!!

as i said in other thread as the news broke, i just couldn't see it, the figures didn't add up and its just The Sun newspaper stirring something up before sundays big game. its all about selling newspapers. Arsenal FC is a british run club, and doesn't need dodgey russians money to help finance our success, we can do that all on our own thank you very much !

I've not been aware of this, having only got back this morning I saw these reports on the net. But I knew they were b******s, the reason the media have jumped on it is cos a guy called Nigel Phillips of the supporters trust wrote an article on the gooner website saying that a takeover would be pretty easy should anyone be interested. Sure enough, two days later the press are carrying a story that it's a certainty. Lazy journalism (there seems to seldom be any other kind). I also read something in 442 this month about a guy who worked over on the WBA page, he decided to randomly find a player from Elgin, and he wrote that WBA were interested to see what would happen. Two days later the tabloids were carrying the story, adding that Boro and West Ham were interested.

I meant the WBA page on vital football, just to clear that up.

Same happen with Vital Chelsea LD - For some unknown reason they reported that Ashley Cole had signed (a week or two before he did) for Chelsea for 23 Million quid, sure enough the next day it was all over the news!

Yeah I know Chris Parry, one of the guys who works for the site and he says this is a problem. Ideally, they should be sued for plagiarism, but it's very hard to prove in a court of law. The answer I came up with a long time ago, I stopped buying newspapers and I can only urge others to do the same. Everything they print is rubbish, hence the reason I dwell on sites like this, by people who give a damn about the game and not leeches looking to flog some lousy rumours.
