'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gunners Bag WBA

The draw for the Third Round of the Carling Cup was made yesterday lunchtime and a pretty uninspiring draw for us in truth. The Cup is something of a lucky dip and I always pray for a lower division side away and a chance to visit a ground I've never been to. Call me crazy, but Doncaster Rovers away was one of my favourite journeys last year! Anyaway, I've been to the Hawthorns about a million times, I've even been there for A Carling Cup tie which we won 2-0. Anyway, it's a winnable game and, injury permitting, a chance to see the likes of Walcott, Denilson, Song and maybe a return to fitness of Clichy or Senderos? Anyway, bank on an upset somewhere in this round, Chesterfield have the taste of blood on their lips after eliminating Man City and get a home tie against a Premiership side low on confidence in West Ham. While our lasagne dodging neighbours get a trip to the MK Dons. The draw in full:

Wycombe Wanderers v. Doncaster Rovers
Sheffield United v. Birmingham City
Leicester City v. Aston Villa
Watford v. Hull City
Leeds United v. Southend United
Chesterfield v. West Ham United
Notts County v. Southampton
Newcastle United v. Portsmouth
Charlton Athletic v. Bolton Wanderers
Liverpool v. Reading
WEST BROMWICH ALBION V. ARSENAL
Port Vale v. Norwich City
Everton v. Luton Town
Milton Keynes Dons v. Tottenham Hotspur
Crewe Alexandra v. Manchester United
Blackburn Rovers v. Chelsea

Match report from yesterday to follow shortly. LD.

Here are my predictions for the third round of the Carling Cup. Doncaster def Wycombe Birmingham def Sheffield Villa def Leicester Watford def Hull Leeds def Southend West Ham def CHesterfield Southampton def Notts County Newcastle def Portsmouth Bolton def Charlton Liverpool def Reading Arsenal def West Brom Norwich def Port Vale Everton def Luton Town Milton def Tottenham - I wouldn't fancy the spuds even if they were playing against dead people. Man Utd def Crewe Blackburn def Chelsea - These are the cups the Rovers know they have a sniff of winning so no doubt they'll put their best team out. I've been to the Hawthorns once and it's doubtful I'll go there again.
