Wenger: Cygan Not At Fault

Arsene Wenger defended Pascal Cygan yesterday, under increasing critisism from the fans and media.

Since joining Arsenal, Cygan has not exactly won the fans over with blistering performances, but, he has tried to do everything asked of him by the manager, without complaining, unlike some of football's other prima donna's.

Since the injury of Ashley Cole & Gael Clichy, Cygan has filled the vacant left back spot, however he has struggled somewhat. Arsene Wenger however, refuses to accept that this is the heart of the problem.

'I don't agree at all with the critics. Looking at the Bolton game, I don't feel that's where we failed.

'Sometimes critics look at easy targets and I don't feel that Pascal Cygan had a bad game. I'm ready to analyse the game with anyone but losing that game was not down to Pascal Cygan, it was down to losing the decisive challenges.'
