Gallas Out Of Charlton Clash

William Gallas will miss Arsenal's away tie at the Valley on Saturday after suffering a hamstring injury last night.

Since Billy joined from the Chavs he has been a rock in defence, arguably one of Arsenal's best players in the victory over Portugese champions, Porto in the Champions League last night. However his powerful performance came with a price as the Frenchman appeared to pull up with a problem in the 89th minute.

Today Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the pacey defender will definately be out of the game against Charlton on Saturday but we will have to wait and see after that.

'Gallas has a hamstring problem," said Arsène Wenger. "It looked to me very serious. We hope it's not too bad, but for Saturday certainly he'll be short. [After that] I don`t know, if he will be available for the French national team or not.'

The injury to Gallas came on top of another defensive blow after Johan Djourou was pulled out of last nights starting eleven after suffering an injury in the warm up. We still await news on Djourou's injury.

Surely you could have found a picture of Billy in a Gooner shirt.

We are only allowed a certain amount of pictures (it costs money) and I was given a deadline for my choices of pictures for this season, unfortunately Gallas joined Arsenal after that deadline had passed :(
Rocky7
Furry muff, sorry for doubting you fella.

I'm working on trying to get a couple of freebie pictures for Gallas & the Beast!! Will let you know how it goes!

Good stuff. Every time I see Big Bill in an Arsenal shirt now it brings me great joy. No wonder Chelsea we so f***** off with us stealing him. Great going forward, superb defender and from what I have witnessed in the last few games a wonderful communicator and leader. Oh!! but we did lose Ashley Cole.

Shame that...lol
Rocky7
shame he's out he's been fantastic since he's joined you

This could be a big blow for us, Billy G has been tremendous. If Johan is not fit I reckon Gilberto will drop in at centre half with the beast in midfield.
Little Dutch
its a big blow for us and i take it as another chance for one of our rising superstars such as connoly to be called in the team. alex song or eboue and hoyte can both operate in the middle eboue - - - -toure- - - - connoly- - - - -hoyte ? or Hoyte - - - - eboue- - - -toure - - - - traore ?

Said exactly the same thing this morning LD, Bert would be a fine deputy for the time being!!

It's not as bad as it seems, after Charlton (a game we should win with or without Billy), there's the two week international break, so he'll actually miss games for France (and to be honest, I'm not a fan of France, in as much as I wanted Henry to win this WC). After the break, we have Watford, another game even our reserves should win. By the time we're back in Europe, Gallas will be back to good. Maybe lacking games, but back to good.

Has Gilberto played at centre back for us before? I can't remember seeing him there. No doubt he'd do well.
JakeB
AW would be very reluctant to play Bert at Centre Half. My guess is most likely Connolly to play in the centre.

Gilberto played CB at Blackburn a few years ago and was brilliant. Gilberto is a CB by trade who was converted into a CM player. I think he'd definitely play, because of Hoyte's inexperience, AW would want an experienced player next to him. Connolly has never appeared for the first team and I think it's unrealistic to play him.
Little Dutch
damn damn, we get the best CB in years and now he is out, lets hope charlton won't be a problem and then he has 2 weeks rest until Watford, hopefully france will rest him too.
PUREGOLD
Yeah, the French manager is very sympathetic to players who have knocks or need a rest, not! But he will be fine soon and back in the lineup.

I think it may be a blessing in disguise. With Billy not missing very difficult/important matches, Wenger will almost certainly put Bert at CB, Rosicky in Central Midfield, Beast on the wing. Finally, a chance for the Beast to play his favourite position!!!
Tugboat
This is a big blow for us, billy has been immense since he came to the club and looks like he has played for us for years! what is it with injuries to arsenal players tho, i cant remeber gallas really getting injured at chelsea and after a few matches with us hes sidelined?
