'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wenger Hails Technically Perfect RVP

Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger has hailed van Persie's amazing strike as 'technically perfect'.

Ever since the ball smashed into the back of the Charlton onion bag, every football fan in Europe has had some thing to say on the goal. And Arsene Wenger is no different.

'It was outstanding, quite unbelievable. Nobody expected that. When Eboue crossed I did not see anybody in the box so it thought, like many times, we have nobody in there. Then suddenly Van Persie arrives.

'Technically it was perfect, with full pace and power. I felt the ball would go over the bar at the start, then it finished in the top corner. It is the goal of a lifetime.'

When Wenger was asked if it was the best Arsenal goal under his reign, he replied,

'The best? I must check that because I have seen some good ones. But it is certainly in the top five.'

And he's never wrong.

Ripsnorter? Ha ha. Isn't that something Mark Bosnich does in toilet cubicles with five pound notes?

It's actually a David Lloyd phrase, but I like it, it's sounds quite apt!!
Rocky7
I like it, I'm going to add it to my own personal thesaurus along with bouncebackability. In my third year at uni, I managed to get the word 'quasi-phantasmic' into an essay. Who needs vocabulary when you can just make words up?
Little Dutch
I dont think I've seen many better in my time. Superb! Les hope that it gives him a huge confidence boost and he can start banging them in for us!
simmy8_2000
it was a great goal
afcbmarcus
Wonder what the other 4 goals would be in that top 5?
iceman10
Henry - Man Utd, Bergkamp - Newcastle, Henry - Charlton, Henry - Spurs!!! My guss.
Rocky7
Good choices, I would include Bergkamp leicester but not sure which goal id leave out!
iceman10
I'd weigh in with Pires v. Villa, pure class. RVP's at home to Blackburn was pretty special, we've been spoiled in this category.

I think that Rosicky against Hamburg was the best. Not only because it was a great goal, it was at a time when Arsenal were struggling. Rosicky had a hack and showed the Gunners that you are actually aloowed to shoot! Think about it, ever since that goal we've been having shots from everywhere and playing much beter

thats so true TUG...

ye there so many goals but van persie has scored so many wondergoals and im pleased that we have someone who is so young with so much good to progress him to his potential in the future. lets hope every1 can learn by his example
abdleb
they either go in or end up in row z!
dazza71
this man is getting better by the hour and a half, next henry (if he gets the chance) >????
red_chattey
i remember a goal suker scored for us when he was here, not sure if it was vs southampton or sunderland, but he received a long pass, controlled da ball and hit a beauty with his left foot which hit the post and went in, that was some goal too..
luckys_10
i was replaying it over and over again, what a goal, sheer class and technical perfection.. and he knew exactly what he was doing...

RVP was stunningly fantastic. His memorable goal that gave 3 points to Arsenal will be a stucked in many fans mind for generations to come. Well done. Gunners are truly gunning now.

Davor Sukers goal was PURECLASS best goal the ARSE have scored and rvp goal had an element of luck, great strike but could of easily went over the bar. Suker was sublime skill and he meant it to the inch. What a player, he was finished when he went to highbury.
cockeril
not as finished as when teddy came back from the mancs to re-sign for u! u booed him when he left and then welcomed him back like he was god! we always seem to get lucky goals especially against s***s, how lucky was Henry when he rang the length of the pitch and smacked 1 past your hapless team?
iceman10
You're actually trying to detract from RVP's goal by saying "it could have easily gone over the bar" ............. Seriously, serious question, do you know anything about football? At all??
Rocky7
COCKeril, there is this thing in football called technique.Against pompey today If Jermaine "the genius" Jenas had not let the ball hit his left foot before having a wild air swing with his right the ball would have flown in the top corner!
iceman10
I wouldnt bother trying to explain if I were you Iceman.

PVP's perfect Congratulatory Gift to AW's Ten-year Anniversary Celebrations.

Can't forget Henry's ridiculous individual effort against Liverpool at Highbury during the "Invincibles" season. Particularly considering the time it occurred...coming off bitter defeats at the hands of Man U in the FA Cup and Chelsea in the Champions League, and then going 2-0 down against the Reds, the season was in real danger of completely falling apart. For Henry to dribble through five guys and stick it into the net to take the lead was easily the biggest positive of that season. I think this would be a good idea for a poll...name the top ten goals scored in Wenger's ten years in charge. Youtube's gonna have most of the best goals, so sampling the cream of the crop shouldn't be too difficult.

amazing goal !!!!! This is just what rvp needs with the confidence hes gained from the charlton game he will hopefully go from strength to strength this season!! ive always admired rvp and think hes got loads of potential to become one of the greats, a good performance is what hes needed to really start hes season and now hes had it !!! come on gunners!!!!
pascal_cygan
hopefully now he has the confidence to put away the easy ones!
JakeB
I actually have played at semi pro level for your information and manage a team so I know a lot more than an armchair critic like you ROCKY -7
cockeril
Bergkamps goal against Sunderland was easily the best, 2, i repeat 2 drag backs and a 20 yard curler on the half volley over and around the goalie, not to mention the 3 defenders he dumped on his arse. That was the most technically perfect goal ive ever seen! No pace, no power, just sheer precision. Lets hope RVP can emulate the legend himself!
