Mad Jens Wants One More Year

The Champions League's best goalkeeper wants to stay at Arsenal for another year.

There has been rumblings for quite sometime now that the crazy German will sign a new deal, and Lehmann's latest comments seem to affirm those rumours.

He said: 'Playing for any other team would be a step backwards compared to the one I'm in at the moment.

'Other clubs may be more successful but I don't know of any that play more attractive football.

'I would like to spend another year here but I also know Arsenal wouldn't hesitate to sign any other goalkeeper they thought was better than me.'

However, as he has previously stated in the past, it seems he would like to finish his career in Germany.

'The Bundesliga is still of interest to me.

'When my wife Conny and I returned to England after the World Cup we both said that it would be nice to go back to Germany.

'The grounds and the atmosphere there are great but I'm not prepared to make any statements on specific clubs.'

When ever Jens wants to leave, I'm positive he will get the blessing of Gooners all over the world. His stint as Arsenal's number one is not the longest by a long shot, but what he has brought to our team will always be remember by at least one particular Gooner.

I think he should ... he has proved good for you and no reason why he cannot carry on another year ... just keep off our Myhill at hull !!!

Jens is one of my favorite players. Rival fans love to hate him, and that can only be a good thing. He has safer ahnds than safe hands, probably the best keeper in the world, but I'm sure we'll have Chelsea fans here soon claiming Cech is better. I just wish Lehmann had more time!
Rocky7
I love the fact that he seems to thrive on *****ing opposing fans off. He's one of those layers you'd hate if he didn't play for your club. A friend of mine saw Jens out and about with his wife in tesco's, and he was wearing an Arsenal polo shirt. How cool is that? At this moment, there is no better keeper in the world, though Cech will take that mantle as soon as he learns to get to ground quicker.

Hes the best goalie in the EPL on current form, but people like Cech etc have time on their side, lehmen doesnt! Also another testament to his abilities is that he doesnt have a defensive minded team infront of him, quite often we leave him exposed at the back and he still keeps clean sheets aplenty for us! I wish he was 10 years younger, he'd clearly be the worlds best with more time available! Shame we didnt get cech when we spotted him 5 years before Chelski even noticed him. Ahwell!

I'm pretty amazed at the turnaround i've had when it comes to Jens. I really used to strongly dislike him and remember cringeing everytime one of our players passed back to him as you never knew where he'd clear the ball to. But over the last few seasons his game has just become so much better (strange for somone as old as him). Nowdays I think the man's a genius and he seems that he can do no wrong.
scooch
what about when he got sent off in the champions league final? that was nothing short of pure class. I agree scooch he really can do no wrong.

'I would like to spend another year here but I also know Arsenal wouldn't hesitate to sign any other goalkeeper they thought was better than me.' TRUE AND THAT WON'T BE A HARD TASK JENS. 'Other clubs may be more successful". AGAIN VERY TRUE JENS BUT YOU DID LOSE IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL AND LOSING IS GREAT. 'When my wife Conny and I returned to England after the World Cup we both said that it would be nice to go back to Germany. 'The grounds and the atmosphere there are great but I'm not prepared to make any statements on specific clubs.' SO WHAT YOUR SAYING JENS IS ALL CLUBS IN GERMANY HAVE A BETTER ATMOSPHERE THAN THE LIBRARY. All in all very well said i take my hat off to jens, what an honest chap.
mrcommonsence
How many Champions league finals has "super size me" Robinson played in? He has played champions league football though....For championship side Leeds Utd! I tell you you should have been at the Library last day of last season, Quiet it was not as we heard the score from upton park! Like ive told u before nosense "u gotta b in it to win it" ur like a tramp with ur nose pressed up against the glass off a posh restraunt, you laugh if a little bit of gravy drops onto my shirt then get back to eating ur ratwings! TRAMP!

If you read the article mrcommonsenceLESS, you will notice the words "The Champions League's best goalkeeper (as decided by UEFA). Even you can then conclude that he must be pretty good. In fact, the only keeper in THE WORLD that is slightly better than him is Buffon (who will sign for us once Jens retires). So please dont come tell us that he is a bad keeper. Has Robinson ever played in a Champs league final? Has Robinson ever been voted as the best player in the Champions league? Has Robinson ever played in the Champions League at all? Ifhe stays at Spurs he's got more chance of losing weight that doing the above!

how old is Lehmann? surely he's should have quite a few years left in him yet especially for a keeper.
dazza71
He's 37!! Must be the most agile 37 year old in history!
Rocky7
Man what a goalkeeper - Crazy Jens is already an arsenal legend - I remember when Seaman retired I was sh**tin myself but Lehmann is better. He is so commanding in front of the sticks and I have never seen any keeper with such a presence. Stay for 2years never mind one..;-)
sameoldarsenal
I agree. Give Mad Jens one more year. He still has the fire power that Gunners need.
SWPACIFIC
I say give him another year. But as a backup.
Regiboy
i love jens, especially after beating man u. that bit where he had jon o'shea grabbed by his shirt and was just snorting at him was pure comedy. stay for another year for sure, although im hoping we get buffon asap.
TheBeast
mrcommonsence. your name is an irony in itself. your a baphoon.
TheBeast
I am shocked he's that old, I thought he was only early thirty's.
dazza71
lol dazza which world are u living in and what football do you see?
luckys_10
A good keeper give him one more year. Pros like the team at Arsenal know when they should finish and if he thinks he should have one more year give it to him.
viking phil
Did you know that he is in thr list of the top five goal keepers in the world, along with: Petr Cech (Chelsea), Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Edwin Van Der Sar (Mancester United) and Dida (AC Milan). I knew that he was good, but I didn't think that he was that good. LOL.
wei, wu and shu
In his first year for the gunners,he went a whole season unbeaten!! nuff said, Mr noncesence your a *****!!
fran merida
mrcommonsense and weststandvoice are the same poster from the spurs site, he also runs the Harry Hotspur 'football' blog he is hated as much on the spurs site as he is on here, why don't the moderators ban him? load mouthed oaf!!
squeaky
I'd love to see Mad Jens stay for one more year...but if Arsenal have any sort of opportunity to grab Buffon in the next year or so, they have to take it.
Shinobi
Squeaky - You have a link to that site?
Rocky7
Don't do it, it has spam and spyware all over it. I visited it in the summer after 'lasagnegate' and apparently many others have hard drive horror stories as a result of that site. Hence, one of the many reasons he is so revered as a *******.
Little Dutch
LittleDutch: A couple of my Spurts friends visited that site also and have had more problems cleaning their harddrives than a spurts players has cleaning his hands! He's right Rocky7, don't waste your time mate!
LondonGooner
mrcommonsense please in future ask permission to post here.....something along the lines of -: "if it pleases your highness's may I speak if I promise not to say something futile, meaningless and idiotic ? "......
