The Lane Quieter Than 'The Library'

The Lane Quieter Than 'The Library'

An article in the Sun today has a league table of the loudest grounds in the league, and I'm pleased to say, the mighty Gunners are not bottom.

Indeed, not only are we not bottom, but we finished higher than the self proclaimed 'uber fans' of Tottenham.

All too often we have suffered jibes at the hands of the Spurs fans, listening to their taunts of 'Highbury Library' and 'Your support is f***ing s**t'. And with our move to our new home it will only get louder.

I have noticed that Chelsea are one place above us by three decibels, but I am prepared to take grief from the two visiting Chelsea fans for a pop at the spuds, plus three decibels is about the volume of a good hearty fart, so you know what to do next time you are at the Grove.

Even with their drum, the Tottenham faithful have still finished with an average 9 less decibels a game, and with 22,000 extra gooners this season, I can only predict a further gap developing between the North London rivals, and not just in the football.

League table in decibels

Portsmouth: 97
Newcastle: 96
Liverpool: 96
Manchester Utd: 94
Sheffield Utd: 91
Bolton: 90
Aston Villa: 89
Blackburn: 89
Everton: 86
Reading: 84
Man City: 83
West Ham: 81
Chelsea: 80
Arsenal: 77
Fulham: 77
Wigan: 72
Watford: 71
Tottenham: 68
Middlesbrough: 67
Charlton: 65

All the times I've been to WHL for NLD's, you could hear a pin drop but for an idiot with a drum.

I had one of your colleagues having a go at me, after I mentioned comments in the Sun which were attributed to Wenger. I was told you can't believe what is in the Sun. Now another article appears in the Sun and you lap it up lock stock and barrel. Sorry but you can't have it both ways. The Sun is either the gospel of all truth, or full of s**t? Decide which one you want to settle on. And I doubt the Sun were able to measure all the noise, made in every home game throughout the entire season, so its a fairly irrelevant statistic.

Uhh....so either its such and such, or its not at all? Come come, its a tabloid newspaper, but theyve done a research into a rather trivial thing, Sir_Harry. This trivial thing proves once and for all that your fans just so happen to be rather pathetic, and ours just so happen to be a not so libraric-collection. Suck that?

Amazing, you have 50% more seating capacity, but can't make the same amount of noise! I guess the readings go down the first 10 minutes, the 10 minutes before and after HT and the last 10 minutes of your matches, although all those seat bottoms clanging shut must add some decibels! We will try to keep the 3 Point Lane crowd very quiet tomorrow!

Sorry SH - I forgot to add the research was done by these guys www.chants.com. West1, it's always going to be hard to find your feet in a new stadium, it will get louder!!!! People who spent years sat together now find themselves all over the place. But as I said, I can take your jibes for a pop at the Spurs!!
