Denilson Earns Call-Up

My inability to stop writing today will continue with the news that Arsenal midfielder Gilberto has withdrawn from the Brazil squad to play Switzerland on Wednesday and has been replaced by Arsenal`s other Brazilian - Denilson. The midfield starlet is captain of the Brazil U19 team but this is his first ever call-up to the full squad.

Bert says that he has withdrawn from the squad for Wednesday`s game for 'personal reasons`.

Denilson has made only two appearances for the Gunners since his transfer deadline day move from Sao Paulo. Denilson got the nod ahead of former Arsenal midfielder Edu, now at Valencia.

Gilberto should return in time for this weekends game against Newcastle.

Keep bringing us good news mate. This kid looked a bit special at Everton last week. Another coup by Le Boss.

that article is short but weet, just like my little lady. :D (Dont know what I wrote that). He looked good against West Brom too.

this came as quite a shock - i rememebr the days when a brazilian plying his trade in the premiership seemed to have to don a red cape and make rain fall upwards against gravity (edooooooo...) to get a callup to the national squad. Now it woudl seem that the prem is no longer soon as the ugly child in the eyes of a brazilian national coach. Or perhaps it is down to the fact that deilson has long been thought of as full squad material by the brazilain national set-up, and his transfer and subseqwuent appearances for arsenal have finally convinced them to take the plunge? This is fantatic news for the kid, and if Gibber can't play, then let's hope that the 'young lad' can get a few minutes under his belt for his country.... »»Arsene Knows««

oh, and Simmy, congrats, mate - I do believe this site must now have a squad capable of fighting on all fronts - both domestic and european. Just what we need for a long hard season :) »»Arsene Knows««

Disgraceful. I mean, what the hell what Dunga know about playing defensive midfield for Brazil? I mean, it's not like he's ever.....oh.
Little Dutch
Ha. Cheers Wingston. I don't know LD, perhaps he has a a little experience somewhere.

looks like another promising and astute purchase by Msr Wenger........
ernshaw
that's again not british.
HATEtheGOONS
No fooling you is there HATEtheGOONS. He plays for Brazil, they have won the world cup more than England. That will be a familiar concept to you as a Spud. Everybody has won everything more than you jokers!
northwilts
true, again, hatethegoons. He's not british, in fact he's the same nationality as Leonardo, the guy you were attempting to sign, but which looks like has hit the ****heap, due to the fact he's not played enough games for his country, maybe cos he's not good enough. Should suit your mob down to the ground then. »»Arsene Knows««
