'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gunners Eye Saints Wonder Kid

Arsenal are set to enter a bidding war with fierce rivals Chelsea.

Both London clubs have set their sights on Southampton wonder kid Theo Walcott, figures have been quoted between 5 to 8 million pounds.

Walcott, 16, promises to be one of the finest young players in the country and has already made a blistering start to his Southampton career.

Arsenal manager has long been admirer of Walcott and is keen to capture his signiture in the January window.

However caretaker manager Dave Bassett believes the players is going no where.

'We are not looking for Theo to go but you get speculation when a young player does well - but I just ignore it,' he said.

'We see Theo's future at Southampton and we are sure he does too because it is good for him to be here.

'The chairman, Rupert Lowe, will decide if the situation becomes serious but we just get on with it because this sort of thing is part and parcel of football,'
