The Beast Back To Bite Magpies

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Julio 'The Beast' Baptista has reurned to fitness and will be in the squad to face Newcastle on Saturday.

Baptista is yet to have any real run out in the team since his arrival from Real Madrid, but the excitment over the player is so great the news that The Beast is over his injury and in the squad to face Newcastle will have Gooner's purring.

His return after a hamstring injury is more than timely after it has been confirmed Gilberto is likely to miss the game for family reasons.

'Nobody has come back from the internationals with any trouble,' Wenger confirmed.

'We have Julio Baptista back in the squad and Freddie Ljungberg is available too.

'We have had him on the phone and he says he is perfectly all right. Jens Lehmann is available again.'

The Magpies who have had troubles all season might be more than a little concerned when they see this monster of a player fit and ready for action.

Do you think Beasts eat Magpies?

he will positively destroy them: a player with unlimited potential...yes he's that good-Wenger has realised this fact which is always a good sign!

from what I've seen of him, pace, power, more power, no little skill and composure on the ball. Oh, and power. I shall love to see him marauding through the newcastle midfield and defence like a frenchman through a barrel of grapes. squishing them underfoot. »»Arsene Knows««

Release the beast......Great to see him back, lets see if he can come on and snatch a goal!

Wenger said he wanted Baptista to improve his conditioning shortly after he arrived, and possibly shed a few pounds as well. So it'll be interesting to see if he's come through there.

Cant wait to see the big guy in action in red and white.. i simply cant wait for his full first game.. he needs to ge into the team a bit.. and i liked him in his cameo against man(ure)chester united.. he;s got good aereal prowess.. an excellent shot on goal.. of what i saw of him at sevilla and real madrid.. he's quite good at holding the ball for other players to come into play too.. and yeah.. i've seen him make some simply unstoppable, defence penetrating runs leaving the other team's defence in heaps.. pure brazilian.. if wenger can find a way of fitting him into the first team.. i'd just like one word to say to the temporary top of the table teams.. BEWARE!! and yeah.. i forgot to mention his size.. if u dont believe me.. just look at his arms..

great news!! especially with gilberto out for this game. though i think he should be on the bench and flamini should start. it will be interesting to see him come on as sub, an impact player from the looks of him. it will be awesome if he scores.

It's an exciting time to be a gooner; watching our young squad blossom and, even on the occasions this season when we haven't won, I've still walked away without the feeling of dissapointment that plagued some of our performances last season. Baptista will only add more to our squad and he's still young too...only 22/23. Perhaps, against Newcastle, we'll see him in a bit more of a defensive / screening role as I understand he's fairly competend right the way through the middle of the park - Assuming Gilberto is still away in Brazil with his family, of course.

he is back at the right time, wenger should give him atleast half an hour in this and the midweek game and then start him against bolton, because that's one game he will be really important to us, because of boltons physical approach, it will be a treat to see the beast give them a taste of their own medicine, and we'll get our long over due win at the reebok, cuz if there is one team i want us to really crush this season, it is them..
luckys_10
yep agree with you lucky, he does have the physical side we need and no better than to use him against bolton. i would like to see walcott against newcastle, his pace will cause their dodgey defense problems.

I must say I haven't really seen him play, what kind of player is he? Who would you compare him to?
