Thierry Henry - Not Very Clever

Thierry Henry - Not Very Clever

Thierry Henry has admitted that his third yellow card picked up against Hamburg 'wasn't very clever' and puts it down to frustration on the pitch.

Henry was walking the tightrope of ridiculous decisions in both ties against CSKA Moscow saw him one card away from suspension. His first card for scoring a goal.....Weird eh!!

However, the captain accepts his suspension and say's it's just one of those things.

'I concede that the booking I picked up wasn't very clever,' admitted Henry.

'It was the result of frustration, but I'm not making excuses - I deserved the yellow card. And of course I am disappointed to be out of the Porto game.'

'The two yellow cards I picked up against CSKA were not bookings and in fact the first card, well, not only did the ref rule out a perfectly good goal, he booked me for handball! What can you do?'

'Sometimes these things happen in football and I just had to accept the suspension. We showed great character to come back and win against Hamburg which leaves us in a good position to qualify.'

Porto beat CSKA in their own backyard, they are certainly not mugs and looking at how the teams match up in the other groups, all teams will be going all out to top their group. Arsenal are unfortunate in that CSKA are travelling to a team who have zero to play for and again lost at the weekend. It could well be that the catalogue of misses against CSKA will come back to haunt you. Personally I'd rather you'd go through but the action of Henry was fundamentally unprofessional. He was aware he was on 2 yellows and no matter how much he complains that they were not deserved, it is still what is officially recorded. To then get booked for a stupid challenge in a nothing part of the pitch is downright daft.

I have a feeling that Hamburg will get a point v Moscow, and that will be enough. However we can't rely on other people's results and must go over to Porto to win. If we sit back and look for the draw, we will get beat.
