Professor Calculus has graced this site with many-a-rants in recent months but never before has he seen the future...until now...
I called this (Cannavaro winning European footballer of the year) ages ago, I also knew AC Milan would never be banned from the Champions League, none of my mates believed me but they made the mistake of assuming that the off pitch politics reflect the on pitch performances. Wrong. The Latino`s own European football for better or worse, and one aspect which is definitely worse is that their politics are so outrageously biased and so transparently agenda driven.
This is such predictable bollocks, can anyone with any confidence think of any premiership side which was exposed as match fixing cheats from the board down to the players, that would not only be considered for awards but take the top two? It's almost beyond belief and yet I saw this one coming a mile off.
I do believe we put two past Buffon when we spanked Juventus at Highbury, that's one more than Lehman conceded throughout the whole tournament even though he faced a last minute penalty and a last minute goal bound shot from Raul amongst other things, so surely no arguments about which keeper had the best performance in Europe, therefore Buffon can't be taking second based on his European efforts, so it has to be his domestic season right, yes that one, the pre planned 'let's cheat are way in to the history books' season.
As for Cannavaro, I really can't raise my depressed energy levels to compare him with Henry's performances which took a young inexperienced side to the Champions League final, knocked out Brazil in the world cup and then reached yet another final. People will say 'yeah but Italy won the world cup and Cannavaro was their captain' yeah and those people are idiots and need to be spoon fed their opinions.
If anyone genuinely believes that this award is based on silverware rather than consistent performance then why didn't any of the 2004 European Champions Greek players take this award? This award has no consistent logic, it's all flawed and deeply upsetting.
Bolton third, then there's proven cheats taking first and second...please football, give me something to enjoy, anything, remind me why I starting watching you in the first place.
