Wenger Compares Henry & Walcott

Arsene Wenger says it is impossible to suggest that Walcott is a better player than Thierry Henry was at his [Walcott's] age, however the Englishman has met the larger challenge.

Theo signed for Arsenal in January 2006 and has only now started to play regular football, but he has trained with the big boys everyday.

"You cannot say he is better than Thierry was at 17," said Wenger. "But he has certainly been confronted with more. Thierry was an exceptional talent. When I took him and put him in the first team he was training with the Under-17s. That was a massive shock for him. He was playing everyday with kids then he was playing with men. But you could see there was something exceptional there.'

Wenger has been impressive with the improvment of Walcott which has in turn lead to his inclusion on many occasions this season.

"Walcott has been training with senior players for a year now. Today he is a different player to six months ago. He is much strong in the one-v-ones in training going forward. He is much more decisive and is becoming a good finisher too."

Theo walcoott has potentiol but we shall see how he develops in a few years time.

Theo has the POTENTIAL to be as good as Thierry, it's just a case of weather or not he will fulfill it, not only over the next few years but over the next 10 or so years...

the game moves on so quickly in a few seasons it really is impossible to compare themn with now.....

yes the game has moved on from 13 years ago, i mean Owen and Rooney both started very early and proved successful, but that wouldn't of been the case 13-15 years ago, experience counted for more. my belief is if they are good enough then play them.

I get the feeling that Theo is gonna start on Sunday, probably on the right. Could be a fantastic matchup between him and Cashley Mole, though it has to be said he defended C Ronaldo incredibly well in the Old Trafford clash.

As players they are both rather overrated, somewhat. Henry rarely turns up as a player for @rse games...it's his neck or something that's giving him an issue. Poor Theo...it's not dissimilar: a small cameo hither and yon. But, of course, as in all the best B-movies, the old 'un and the young 'un will turn things around, dash to the resue of the @rse team and things will be fine back at the Emirates ranch. Sorry to say @rse fans, dis b no movie, babies: dis b da real ting. U iz goin darn. Love 'n' respect to da @arse, past, present 'n' da future, init. PS: do any of you gooses understand irony? I wonder.

No comparison. I must say though that at this moment and time, I enjoy watching Walcott play. I can't really say anything more about him as he has yet to show what he's really made of. I'm keeping my eyes on you, Theo! x_X
