'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clichy Is The New Cole

When Ashley Cole left for Chelsea, the general consensus was that the mighty Arsenal were losing the finest left back in the world, and no matter who you are, you are going to miss a player like him.

Unless you have a clone.

There's an advert on tv at the moment that suggests that 60% of people in Thailand believe human cloning has already taken place, and if that's true, my guess is that they started with Mr. Ashley Cole, only somehow they managed to rid his clone of the crappy attitude.

Gael Clichy has spent most of his career trying to get in front of Cole, in vein, and when that wasn't happening he was injured. Well now Ashley 'I almost crashed my Bently' Cole has done one, Clichy has stepped up to the plate.

Even though he has been out for such a long time, he has seemlessly slotted into the side and his performances have improved with each game, something not gone un-noticed by Arsene Wenger.

'Gael is the answer, 100 per cent the answer,' said Wenger. 'When we lost Ashley Cole, we were thinking 'OK we have got Clichy, injured' but with a lot of potential.'

'What he is doing now at the moment after being out for one year is quite amazing. He is handling it very well and he is getting stronger with every game.'

'It is a good challenge for him, because he will be compared to his model. He always said 'Ashley Cole is my model' and he will be compared to his model.'

'Ashley is playing well and I am not surprised because we lost a player who is 26-years-old, the best age for a football player. But Gael has the potential [to be as good as Cole].'

Weeee all agree, Clichy's better then Cashley. This is boy is deffo the answer, I've always believed that and I've seen nothing to change my mind.

He's certainly got the potential to be as good, if not better than Cashley. It looks as though the cycle has started again as well; what with Armand Traore apparently showing all the signs that he'll be the next Clichy!

Clichy is better looking too, and his bird isn't a chav.

Its ok we'll just buy him in the Summer as well. ; )

Wayne bridge wont be happy if u sign him Olasal! Cashley is 1 of the untouchables, what did poor wayne do wrong!?

OLASAL, How bout we just give you a bag of used footballs for Bridge plus $5M? I'd say that's still a better deal for you than what you got for Gallas.

Clichey has been really impressive this season...he looks very quick, covers and defends well, and can help move the ball up field with the dribble. Being one of just two left footed players on the team who can swing it in on the left side (Persie being the other, when he's on the wing), he's a crucial part of the team. As an aside, I feel Arsenal still needs a pure left footed winger to take us to the next level...that's where a good chunk of our goals came from a few years ago.

Clichy is definitely a good player and it's undeniable that he's improving. But as much as I despise Cole's attitude, in terms of talent and skill on the pitch, Clichy is not quite up to his level. But the prospects look good, and if Wenger is that confident in this player, then it'll only be a matter of time till we see a Clichy that far surpasses Cole.

is he as good as cashley hole at the same age,or at the same development level,i cant really remember hole at that age 22,but clichy has the potential for sure, just needs to fine tune a few areas of his gameplay, and he will become something special, but if he doesnt work out we have traore waiting in the wings
