Hleb: Blame Us

Hleb: Blame Us

Arsenal's wiley winger, Alex Hleb says the only thing to blame for Arsenal 'poor' league position is the players and their poor finihing.

This sason has seen a whole host of missed opportunities which could have been easier to score rather than miss.

'I have watched United a couple of times. If they have chances, they use them. Their execution is on the highest level,' Hleb told the Daily Mirror.

'Even if we just converted one out of five chances, we would be right up there with them, even if we weren't quite on the same level. And we would have had fewer problems in the UEFA Champions League too.'

'Of course we're the ones to blame for missing from unthinkable positions, though bad luck does play its part too.'

I have to say he's right. Games should, and could, have been won against Villa, Boro, Newcastle & Everton, which would have left us just two points behind Chelsea.

But now is the time to stop thinking about what could/should have been, and concentrate on the future.

Starting at the JJB tonight.

arsenal have a habit of taking time to get things right, a new stadium i think its partly the reason, the ever changing team pattern right now isn't helping, but if you look in a positive way you can see where it is coming together. the spirit is certainly there, the togetherness.. and certain players are shining, i think Hleb is of the highlights of this season, he has certainly settled, rosicky if he can stay if the injury table, baptista if he gets played and theo is a star in the wings.. but look at our stand in captain gilberto... Cesc goes from strength to strength, Adebayor is finding form... it goes on.. and it will get better, i predict a better second half to the first !

IF Arsenal click we will be better than chelsea. It would not surpise me if we picked up more points between now and season end than any other team. shame we are so far behind.

It is hardly suprising that they are having problems scoring as none of the player (bar Henry) have had pedigrees of being prolific goalscorers. Hleb was getting blasted for not shooting enough. Now that he is, he needs to work on his finishing. Same for Fabregas, Rosicky, Van Persie... The lads will come good with goals and physical grit...Give them some time..

The thing I've really liked about watching Arsenal this year is that they have NOT been pushed around by ANYONE this season. Even the Bolton match they stood in physically very well...they simply lost the game in other areas, whether it was due to poor defending or missed chances. That's been the story for us all year...bad defending at the worst possible time, and missing chances that oughta be gimmies. If they can sort that stuff out, their position in the table would be vastly improved.

if we win the champions league this season, and i really think we have a great chance of doing it, it will be the most successful season in our club's thing's arent so bad as everyone thinks, we're not even in the new year, the lads are getting their act together now, and the season can change completely in the new year, and hleb is right, he ain't blaming the new stadium the fans or the tactics, he is taking the blame himself and on the team which is a good sign, it only shows that the players know their responsibility, and aren't passing the blame onto others..

Arsenal have been pretty strong this season, but in reality it was only the northern games that we struggled with last season. games like Everton, Newcastle, Bolton and Blackburn are going to be more a battle than a football match. Its understandable that wenger uses 4-5-1 in some matches, but I dont feel that tonight against wigan is one of those games. we should be good enough to play 4-4-1-1. Fabregas is not as weak as people make out.

So far this season, Arsenal quite simply have not been as Man Utd or Chelsea. It's not just poor finishing.

Honesty is always the best policy. Well said Alex!

its just a matter of time, have you seen hleb on youtube,he scored some cracking goals,we have manged to match manure and chavski,so the problem is only our lack of quality in the final product, but like i said before it will come good

winning the champions league wont make it our most successful season in our history, coz becoming the invinceables was our greatest moment,it would take a lot more than a bloated over hyped cup comp. to top that
