Arsenal Old Boys Return

Arsenal take on high flying Portmouth at Ashburton Grove tomorrow in a game that see's 3 Arsenal legends return to their former club, barring a latest fitness test here or there.

Kanu, Sol Campbell & the great Tony Adams will travel to North London in what is effectively a six pointer, to visit their former teams new home for the very first time.

Most people wouldn't think of all three of those players as Gooner legends, but I certainly do.

Tony Adams requires no explination. Arsenal captain, Mr Arsenal, Arsenal legend, Arsenal through and through. 'Nuff said.

Sol Campbell is an Arsenal legend because he was Spurs captain, we got him for free, in his first season we did the double & and he scored the only goal to date that Arsenal has ever scored in a European cup final. Ok so he had his problems, but the good far out weighed the bad.

That leaves us with Kanu. Not the greatest player in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but a player of extreme skill alway had me purring with delight. And the mere thought of one of the greatest ever hat-tricks has me covered with 'goosebumples' as the magnificent third crashes into the onion bag in the minds eye.

It's always nice to have former Gooners return to our club on a good note, so lets give them an extremely warm welcome to the Grove, and then smash them to pieces on the pitch.

Good to see that the Arsenal legends are still palying good quality football and certainly don't look out of place. Should be a very good game. No side managed by Harry Redknapp will be easy to beat.

Obviously Kanu and MR Arsenal Adams will get a great welcome but I hope we give Sol a great welcome back aswell. He made 1 bad mistake during his Arsenal career but He was a Rock During his title winning seasons incredibly losing NO away games on route! He gave me the best summer of my Arsenal supporting life, the gloating reached epic proportions WE SIGNED THE SPUDS CAPTAIN!

I consider TA as the biggest legend ever, Sol was a good player and kanu too, but not consistent enough to be classed as legends. i think the word is used to quickly like the term world class.. but having said that, they gave their all to the club and served us well and that would be enough to be given a good welcome, funny thing is i heard pompey are so short of strikers that Sol could be playing upfront !

Yeah I heard that as well...I think Kanu might miss this game and their other frontline strikers are injured, which leaves ole' Sol as the most experienced forward on the team (and he hasn't played up front in like 15 years). I'm pretty happy for these ex-Gooners though, they're doing a great job at Pompy, particularly Kanu who's just been brilliant so far. Hopefully they can go off the rails a bit this Saturday, heh.

Sol was the heart of the Invincibles defence PG, and that is enough to make him a legend..

I appreciate the warm welcome gesture but less of smash us up bit. We have little to choice but defend & hold out for 0-0. If you score you win. Sorry I can't be there lost out in the ballot. Would have hoped we got more than 2,900. We would have sold twice that number. We have a good relationship with your lot. We're just glad to be this close.
