Wenger In Trouble Again

Arsene Wenger has been charged with improper conduct following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Portsmouth only days after being fined ten thousand nicker and warned about future conduct.

The FA released this statement.

'Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has been charged with improper conduct in relation to his words and behaviour towards the match officials at half-time of match against Portsmouth.'

'Wenger was subsequently sent from the technical area for the second half. He has until 5 January to respond to the charge.'

Wenger's charge and fine was a pretty clear cut case, it was there for all to see on tv and he even admitted the allegations, however this time things are not so clear, I have seen no footage of the altercation and Mr Wenger himself vows to fight this one all the way.

Should Wenger be found guilty, it will be likely he will be on the end of a pretty hefty fine and a touchline ban.

pretty harsh IMO

I can't really comment on this, but in general I think it's ridiculous that ref's aren't supposed to explain decisions, yet managers are punished for criticising them. Either we have an open dialogue or we don't, but the F.A are having their cake and eating it. The way they run the game is akin to fascism.
Little Dutch
Ok this is stupid, you can critise players and diving etc but if you believe the refree made a stupid decision you are not allowed to voice your opinion? Refrees are just thick and seem scared to be told they might be wrong in any way.

Oh look, Spurs get a win and suddenly HTG's is back. So pathetically predictable.
Rocky7
What evidence of that do you have HTG? Given that nothing was captured by cameras. Do you purposely embarass yourself, or do you genuinely believe yourslef to be a witty, intelligent rogue?

AW shouldn't get wound up over the free kick, minor decison either way. He should be screaming at his defence.

'E's an animal! And I pity 'im. Poor barsteward got wind of Dein David's latest plan to keep Club L'Arse from sinking in debt. Play concurrent seasons in both the Prem and France's Ligue Unh! Did poor Arson's head in, it did. Got a lot on his plate right now - running the snail farm that keeps the club level rolling in escargot, running his slave galleys full of young players out of Africa. But this, zut alor, c'est un trop!

According to Wenger he didn't use any bad language when he talked to this official, yet he's getting slapped with this? I don't get it. So it's okay for the entire Chelsea team to blast saliva on a referee's face on the field for virtually the entire game in a broadcast seen by 50 million people around the world, but Wenger going at it with an official in the tunnel away from the cameras is enough for him to be charged with misconduct? Eh? Someone will have to explain the logic of that discrepency to me.

Not where they say it but what they say. He's not really respected any more, especially after his unsanctinable ambush against an obviously beleaguered Alan Pardew. He's seen as a bit of a poseur, really, and it's all down to his frustration that Club L'Arse have gone many leagues under a sea of debt building Stade Escargot and it just won't matter in the long run. It won't put them over the top financially or make them as widely beloved as ManU or Liverpool. He's sees it, he knows it and it hurts. The man's a wounded animal and he's lashing out. Mourinho's heading for the same hot water, but the FA cut him some slack for at least playing a few Englishmen.

OFFICIAL FA STATEMENT : 'Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been charged with improper conduct in relation to his WORDS and BEHAVIOUR towards match OFFICIALS at half-time of saturdays match against portsmouth'.soz LD,no video evidence but i'd stick with that.FACTUALrouge signing off.

P.s He has until 5 Jan to respond to the charge.

I wonder if it's just a coincidence, but Arson's behaviour has worsened as the year has gone on. And what might be troubling him other than the club's poor play blowingup any chance of a league title this year. And a crushing debt load. Might he be growing irritable and anxious about what the Stevens inquiry might reveal? He does not look a happy man these days.
