Adams Fancies Arsenal Job

Adams Fancies Arsenal Job

Upon issuing a statement revealing he will leave Portsmouth at the end of the season, Tony Adams says he would jump at the chance to be Arsenal gaffer.

Mr Arsenal says the Arsenal set up is superb and he would have to be shook in the head not to accept the job should (god forbid) Arsene Wenger step down.

'Who wouldn't jump at the chance of that?' Adams stated. 'Of course I'd love to manage Arsenal. The club was part of my life for so long.'

'Okay, Highbury will always be my home but what a fantastic setup they have.'

'Everything is in place - the backroom staff, the facilities, the training ground, and the scouting network is phenomenal.'

Tony also revealed his reasons for leaving Pompey, saying being assistant manager is very frustrating.

'The agreement between myself and Harry Redknapp was always that I'd stay at Fratton Park for a year,' said Adams

'We have a great working relationship and I have learned an awful lot under Harry.'

'But assistant manager is the most frustrating job in football. You make suggestions not decisions.'

Bad news for us at pompey as his arrivial has happened to come with an upturn in fortunes at the back for us... no coincidence there! He was always going to leave but leaving so soon is a surprise to me. He was always going to leave when you're job came up anyway (whenever that will be?) so maybe its best he goes sooner, rather than later...

I'd love to see big Tone back at Arsenal, however his managment skill need serious improvment!!! I'm not one of these who want former players as managers just for that reason. However having such an Arsenal legend manage the club would be excellent!!

Top Gun Tony has a long way to go for that. first of all, i hope wenger stays here for life, atleast 10-15 years more. look at fergie, he is in his 21st year and still going strong. so just hope Le Boss can carry on for even longer than tat and may God bless him with good health, cuz he is the man, no one can ever replace him..

Maybe my favourite Gunner Tony Adams should take up a role in the Arsenal staff before he manages Arsenal. And then when the great AW takes up a well-deserved rest and moves into the Arsenal board, Arsenal could be led by TA, Keown, Bouldie... I don't think there'll be any slacking around with this group:))

He's got some way to go before that would come up. I agree with the Rock here, decisions this big cannot be clouded by sentiment. I would hate for him to infringe on his legend by being a crap manager, like a certain Glenda Hoddle.

one day he will be manager, but i think he has alot of to learn in football, never quite cut it at wycombe, for me the answer would be to join arsenal as a coach, and learn under wenger, maybe even become no2 to wenger. then one day .......

I think that he should start as a coach, stay close to Arsene, and then when the sad day of Arsene's retirement comes, he can be manager, hopefully with Arsene still in a subtle role at Arsenal, giving Tony some help. Perhaps a part-time role for Arsene to help Tony. I would love Tony to come back to Arsenal though, but no yet as manager.
