Wenger: Adebayor Is Like Wright

Arsene Wenger has paid Adebayor the ultimate compliment by comparing him to Ian Wright Wright Wright!

Despite the obvious compliment Wenger was quick to rubbish claims that Adebayor was already an Arsenal great.

Speaking ahead of today's game with Watford Wenger said: 'He has potential but people like Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp played 500 games for the club and he has played 20 so you have to compare that,' said Wenger.

'At the moment what is important is he enjoys playing.

'He has won the fans over because he fights and plays for the team. He has a good mixture between the English game and the French game.

'He challenges in the air, goes for every ball, likes physical contact and is good with his feet as well. That is why people have quickly loved him.

'Physically, I can't remember the last player we had like that. Maybe John Hartson and Wright was a bit of a nasty guy.

'He also has character and is an extrovert, a happy boy which is another similarity with Wright.

'Maybe he struggled at first because he was impressed by Thierry's presence around him but overall this season he has become stronger and stronger.

'The World Cup helped him and Thierry loves to play with Adebayor.'

except he dwarfs wrighty height wise. and becuase he is so lanky his ball control is not the same. what he does have is immense strength, and a direct approach similiar to wirghty, not interested in the pretty stuff, he just wants to score and knows he will get service in this arsenal team.

You say he's not interested in the pretty stuff...he likes his flicks!
