If You Were Wenger In January

If You Were Wenger In January

Over on Vital Arsenal we want to know who, if anyone you would bring in during the January transfer window.

With the January sales only days away all the transfer speculation is set to explode.

Klass Jan Huntelaar, Miroslav Klose, Yohann Pele, Igor Akinfeev, Jesus Navas and Gokhan Zan are just some of the names being bounded about.

What are you views on the players we've been linked with? Who would you like to see come in? Should we move for Ronaldinho, Vieira, Buffon or re-sign Paul Merson.

No matter how ridiculos or un-realistic it may be we want you views so get yourself ovr onto our forum and let us all know.

well Igor Akinfeev is quite young ! and so is jesus, so they could qualify, personally i woould like him to sign an experienced player to settle the team and guide the kids.

None of the aforementioned. Boruc to replace Jens at the end of the season and Ribery, and one from Bale/Baines.

I would do my best to get a left midfield player LIKE Puerta or Ribery. Maybe a goalie. The current squad is strong - the only areas that need urgent attention is that LM spot.

Now why would Wenger get some young LB like Baines when he already has the excellent prospect Clichy at around the same age?

Getting the injured Lauren and Diaby back fit will be like 2 new signings. No need to spend!

I would sign Akinfeev, Richards and Kaka. The best young keeper, a very talented english defender that can play on either side and the best player on the world at the moment.

Peter, in case Clichy gets injured/suspended/whatever who would you expect to fill in? I don't want to see Flamini or Lauren again there. A good LB offers Arsenal width, creates more space, makes the opposition wide players to track back, especially the overlapping runs of both Eboue/Clichy. Plus, competition is always a healthy thing and since we only have a good Armand Traore developing, I would rather see Baines than Bale. Akinfeev is a bit short for my personal taste (185 cm) and too young (20), while Boruc is 193cm, 26 yrs, accustomed to the life on the island (always a plus) and has a substantial experience (World Cup, ChampsL, UEFA C., SPL). We've all seen Ribery and know what he is capable of, while Puerta is another risky Reyes situation.

The chances of Arsenal signing Kaka are the same as Cashley publicly saying he is a ****. Highly unlikely.

I wouldn't sign anyone (unless Eto'o comes a knockin), we have a strong squad, but we are integrating a lot of new players, I don't think throwing new bodies at it will help. Diaby, Lauren, Gallas and TH will all be fresh for the second half of the season and the Beats and Rosicky will only get better. Having siad that, I said in the summer I felt Buffon would arrive in Jan and that would not displease me.
