Baptista To Get His Chance

Over the past month or so Julio Baptista has pleaded with Arsene Wenger to give him the chance to prove what he is capable of; Well Le Boss feels that his time has come.

For a change, Arsenal have multiple injurie in the team and Wenger has revealed that, at last, we will get to see what 'The Beast' can do.

'Julio has a lot to prove in the next six months," said Wenger. "I am leaning more one way than the other about taking him [permanently]. But I will not give you the way I am leaning.'

'Still, I think he is ready to play now. The problem he has is for me to give him the number of opportunities he deserves.'

'All the players need a run but what can you do? That's why I don't understand when people ask 'will you buy in January?'. Where do I put the players?"

Wenger also praised Baptista for his attitude and sympathised with his injuries just when he was looking like the mutts nutts.

"Just when he was looking very sharp we played against Charlton Reserves here at the Training Ground and he got a big injury," said Wenger. "He was out for six or seven weeks. On that day he looked really convincing in the game and it was sad to lose him.'

"We have had plenty of [new] players who take time or get injured. We have a different training regime and maybe their muscles work in a different way.'

'He had not played much football before he joined us and that can be a vicious circle. But it is a difficult job being a footballer. When you get the chance you must be ready. Yet I have not seen one minute when he has not been completely dedicated.'

"He has a great attitude and is very strong mentally. I like him as a player but I agree he has not got the opportunities to show how good he is.'

I'm looking foward to seeing him in action again. I agree with what you said over on the forum the other day, he really made a difference when he came on against Watford.

It was his drive and willingness to pick up the ball and go forward that gave us the edge in the final quarter of the match at Watford. Hopefully he can bag a couple tomorrow!!

I really like the beast. I really hope he has a good game tomorrow. the formation is still a mystery. we might play 4-5-1 but the 442 has done well in the last few games. aliadiere might play but that could be wing or up front, though I think there is more chance of flam playing as right winger with him on the bench.

Im not sure that Wenger will be able to play Van Persie and Baptista up front. They both like to drop off and pick up the ball. Van Persie will probably play in midfield along with Bert, Cesc and Rosicky so Baptista could play up top on his own. The question is, can Baptista play up front on his own?

This is a fantastic time to shine! Displaying the meat on the pitch is the perfect litmus test. All the best for Baptista!

This will be the most mysterious formation ever... how about a flexible 4-4-2 (4-5-1) - Jens, Hoyte, Toure, Phil, Clichy, Gilberto, Cesc (needs a REST!), Rosicky, Flam, Beast + RvP; subs: Almunia, Lauren, Denilson, Aliadiere, Djourou...

gr8, atlast i get to see what he can do and hope he gets a run so the manager has little choice but to keep playing him.

I dont know, I think RVP and Baptista may be able to play upfront together if The Beast is used as a kind of target man. Looks like he can use his head, hold up the ball and knock it on. Hopefully we can take apart the Charlton defence and Baptista can get some confidence out of doing so. Is Walcott out tmrw? Id like to see him ping some crosses onto Baptista's head again.

Spot on N13 it's the Blades;)... and Theo's out too, so Flam will supply the crosses:)

ha ha at flam supplying crosses, i disagree, i think he will play rosicky, hleb, cesc, gilberto, baptista, RVP.. in middle and upfront.

I hear Hleb is out with a foot injury and Cesc is doubtful with a virus!

Think its an omen for Rosicky to shine today - he needs to have a game where he is a blatent Man of the Match.

The Beast needs to go back to his cage on this perfomance. I was one for unleashing the Beast but if all Wenger is gonna do is play him out of position in a country he hardly knows, then why bother? Baptista looks like he's quality, but Arsene Knows is in serious danger of losing a nickname.
