Henry Praise For van Persie

Robin van Persie has hit the back of the onion bag five times in Arsenal's four matches over the Christmas period to make him the Gunners top marksman so far this season.

His current goal scoring exploits have earned him plaudits from Arsenal's all time leading goal scorer and current club captain.

'He's shown ever since he arrived here that he is a scorer of great goals,' said Henry.

'He's done it this season but also in previous years - every goal he scores is a smashing one.'

'He has the ability to be one of the best players in the league. He has matured a lot and he does stuff in training that I have rarely seen before.'

I particularly enjoyed the celebrations between Henry and van Persie after the Dutchman smashed home the penalty with his deadly left foot.

Good to see them both smiling again.

a lot of his goals are third or fourth goals in a rout. how many points do his goals gain the team compared with other players? ie the goal to go in front or draw level is an important goal.

gazzap doesn't matter, he still has scored 2 goals, no matter who against or when, it means he is finding the net, which is more than say Sheva has done for chelsea and he cost 30m ! so i am not worried, he seems to be really doing well this season and stepping up a gear and thats all that matters, and if he scores more than he did last year, even better !

Equalisers against Hamburg & Everton, Equaliser and winner against Charlton, winner against Watford....it's safe to say RvP has earned us a fair few results this season!

Gazzap, I took your point last seaosn about the importance of the goals RVP scores, but this season he has scored quite a few important ones. Even in the routs, like Blackburn, his two goals put the result beyuond doubt when Blackburn looked like they might snatch a draw, and thatI find quiteimportant as well.

The atmosphere between TH and RVP was the highlight of the night for me.

I couldn't agree more about the celebrations between Henry and Van Persie. Even from the start of THIS season, I can still see Van Persie improving and getting better and better. It's just all very exciting to see what the 2nd half of the season holds for us, gooners! ^^

I recall at the start of this season many gooners here doubting that we had any strikers that could support Henry by scoring double figures (assuming that Henry would score his customary 20-30 goals). Well RvP has already achieved this at the halfway mark, and Adebayor is close behind. Gilberto has surprised me with his tally, but we need Rosicky and Hleb to become more potent.

Well done robin on a good season so far, playing some good stuff at the moment and scoring some excellent goals

these two are our top marksmen now.. top in the picking order.. and as we all know.. henry and ade are best of buddies.. and over the last month.. we have seen ade and RVP have developed a good understanding.. which gives us 3 deadly pairs up front..
