Arsene Does It Again

Arsenal have handed a trial to 15-year-old Swedish defender Niklas Penttila.

As we all know, this lad is not the first to be 'discovered` by Wenger. The studious Frenchman has found players like good ol` Paddy Vieira, Thierry Henry, Freddie Ljungberg, King Toure, Manu Eboue, Cesc Fabregas and most recently, Fran Merida.

Penttila is Wengers most audacious youth signing yet as he currently plays in the Swedish FIFTH division. That`s the equivalent of the Nationwide Conference in England!

Penttila is quoted as saying: 'Arsenal is my favourite team so I am a bit nervous.'

'It's a dream come true.'

'They seemed very interested, I hope I'll do well when on trial.'

The news has infuriated Alan Pardew and he has decided to offer his services to Arsenal Football Club in order to get them relegate, I mean, to add some English 'grit`.

I hope Pardew reads this site! We've given him an honourable kicking over the last twenty four hours.

I think that because of Wenger going for younger and younger players he may soon be scouting the gene pools of fertility clinics.

I dont understand why he is not at a bigger club in Sweden. A bit like Olsen who we signed from Norwegian 3rd div

Only recently Jacky. If you had read an article from Comioli or whatever his name is when he joined you'd have believed that the reason he went to Spurs was because of the anti-English feeling at Arsenal. That was before you signed 5 non-English players and sold Carrick. In all honesty, how many more Spurs players are likely to get into the Englad team in the next couple of years than Arsenal?

Yes, there is some hypocricy in what he said. However, we had no choice in selling Carrick. What we do is buy English "where possible" It seems Wenger overlooks English talent (except Walcott) Don't tell me you wouldn't have wanted Lennon - he fits your style, and is the nuts. Regarding the England team, As long as Players are in the squad there is an outside chance of playing. Particulary Leds and Lennon. So I think it quite like likely being as Walcott is the only one from your lot anywhere near.

Fine mate, I'll agree with you, I like Lennon. As far as the rest of your English 'starlets' I wouldn't want any in place of what we have. To pay £8m for Jenas is straight from the Allardyce book of 'pocket' deals and the only other English player you have that is worth his salt is Defoe. And let's be honest fella, he is either played out of position or not played. Would you honestly play Defoe in front of Van Persie or Henry??

I would say Walcott and Lennon are the only two English youngsters who have come through recently who are of Arsenal standard. Wenger had his eye on Walcott for two years and I reckon by the time Lennon became available, he probably felt they were too similar and opted for Theo. I don't believe for a second Wenger overlooks English players, its just much easier and cheaper to get youngsters in from abroad where we are not restricted by the F.As fifteen mile catchment areas. In truth, English footballers lag miles behind their foreign counterparts technically, hence, England's constant failures- but I guess you could argue Arsene could coach them technically from a young age.

And whilst we are on the subject I think the England team are a bunch of over-paid, under-worked degenerate *********s with no intelligence or understanding of every day life. If they weren't semi-talented sportsmen most of them would have ASBO's and/or banning orders and prison sentences.

Dawson and King are undoubtably good players. I sill wouldn't exchange Toure or Gallas. Maybe that is just Arsenal bias, but fair play to you for conducting a reasoned debate.

i like lennon and defoe, but didn't the tiny totts management say they buy young british talent and then off they go the other day but a kid from Lens and some brazilian talent from Holland, and rumour has it, they are in for young Collins John, another Dutch buy from the big dutch man. also, JackyB there seems to be an awful lot of love in the room today, we must keep up appareances or some people with think we love each other, so just to cap off this little piece, spurs are all silly stupid ********s..... (winks)

I agree, its all getting a bit friendly - But it does get a little bit tired just slagging each other off cos of rivalry, i am enjoying the civilised debate to be honest. However we didn't get Leonardo - so **** you! lol. and this is our policy.1 Buy English. 2 Buy from Premiier league. 3. Look elsewhere, in that order.

Why would that keep us happy? I just want good Players. If they are english fine. Otherwise, fine too. It does make sense though (if it is our policy) there is no "settling in" period, and the likelyhood of players not adapting is greatly reduced.
